Now that our GPs give "fit notes" rather than sick notes, you can go back to work on reduced hours if you are ok to work for a shorter period whilst recovering. I'd ask for a fit note that starts you back on a half day with the option to do shorter or longer depending on how you are coping. Do you still have the option to work from home?

Most importantly, whatever your boss thinks of your absence, make sure you look after yourself. If you aren't well, then don't go to work because the boss is grumpy. They'll get over it.

    Hugs

Granny's advice is good. If you're not well enough to travel, you shouldn't, busy commuter trains and getting knocked is not a good option for you right now.

If you're up to it, work from home until the new year.

    Hi All

Been to GP. She wanted to put me off until 2013 but I asked her if I could do 4 hours a day from home and she said ok but I have to go back in 2 weeks in case things arent getting better.

I will feel better when this is finally done and dusted. x

  • NL, sorry to hear you are still feeling so poorly.

Be careful you dont overdo it, but I totally understand where you are coming from re your boss. I used to have one of those many moons ago ! He called me the day I came out of hospital after having DD1 and stressed me out so much I ended up back at work full time and commuting when she was only two weeks old.

    Please look after yourself xx

PG thanks for the kind words. It's sad that we live in a time we are so worried for our jobs that we do things that could be bad for us just to keep them

    Hi NL

Pleased that the GP seems to be sympathetic and hopefully now your boss will see you are trying to balance getting properly well with a bit of help when its truly needed...

    Sending you hugs, lass
