I will be uninstalling I.E.9 later today and won't be re-installing until at least the release candidate. Great start for me Yahoo mail froze (second page I visited). I don't like the favourite star on the right, or indeed the fact you can't put the menu bar and use the drop down favourite list. But of course it is an extremely early beta so it is going to be far from perfect.
I use rapport from my Natwest banking never had an issue with it. But when I went to uninstalling I.E.9 by using system restore, upon reboot it came up with an error about rapport and basically system restore couldn't complete.
Going to look at other ways to uninstall later today.0 -

- if it is not redistributed a billion times, how many is it on your guess-ometer?
On point two, it's an inarguable truth RobTang.
The link is NOT importmant
THE FACT YOU BANK WITH HSBC IS THE IMPORTANT FACT.
besides google said there was only about 14million results for "hsbc" so nerr nerr nerr

Hi, Probably this site is not the site for this subject, I laid all my problems with A&l on the savings blog, including all the E-mails, instructions from A&l, when they stopped my logging in, due to (in their words)someone compromised my A/c.After numerous phone calls, running to and fro to branch, ( milesaway)passport etc, they re-imbursed my monies and issued me with new login data.Only 4 weeks ago I transfered out my money, but have to wait till october to close A/c, (interest paid then).They were useless, I use my favourites for all my bank A/cs, several, but I am not stupid enough to insert remember data.I have just got secure webpage up, rapport enabled , and saved in favourites.What,s wrong with that, unless some virus is monitoring favourites?"A&L said NO".I had to send screenshot with Rapport, green flag showing, to prove I have it, to get my monies refunded.I took IE9 off yesterday, using updates, no problem, back to IE8.There was pages galore on the savings blog, and I think Richie/boro, was in on it at the time, but I may be wrong.HSBC rep came on it, at the time ,I was logging onto unsecure site according to page, but not according to HSBC.I don,t want Rapport, but, if you are with A&l,I can assure you they reccomend it, as do HSBC et.al It,s not compulsory, but the experience I had with A&l, and as HSBC ADVISE me to have, I , "cowardly probably", put it on.As I see it, it,s been vetted by the said banks, so if anything goes wrong, the onus is on them, not me.I have had no problems with it, apart from glitches, easily overcome.;;I don,t worry about a third party software reccomended by bank, as long as it does what it,s supposed to.I may be wrong, it,s been on 12 months now.The banks must have some arrangement with Rapport, that,s obvious, but what it is , no one will ever know;All I know is A&l is Kaput, nada, never again, Santander or what.HSBC are my main bank, and I tend to take their advice, thats why I,ve been there 50 years.You pays your money, you takes your choice.:beer: Theres a long blog on Rapport on the savings site, perhaps another blogger can supply direct link? I,ll try PS, hers E-Mail from A7l at the time.I'm with Halifax and Alliance and Leicester none of them have asked me to install software like this, neither has M$. How come they're asking you?
@joe134
If they suspended my account for not using their software I'd close that same account for good. That is called blackmail and I think is illegal.
Please open your internet browser and go to "internet options". You will find this via "tools" and delete your internet "cookies, files and history." Also go to your favourites and delete the link to Alliance & Leicester. Then go to your web address box (not a search engine) and type in "www.alliance-leicester.co.uk", if it pre populates (highlights blue) or a drop down box appears, ignore and carry on typing address (go back and delete history again as possibly not done correctly). Once into alliance-leicester.co.uk, navigate to internet banking. You should delete your history etc on a regular basis. Then download Rapport. If you have any problems downloading Rapport, please call Trusteer on0203 239 2926.
Once downloaded, go into internet banking and you will need to create a screen print showing the Green Rapport logo on the address bar. The screen print should then be forwarded to; Rapport@alliance-leicester.co.uk To do the screen print, make sure you have the web page showing the Green Rapport logo, press "Ctrl+Print Scrn" and then go to "Word" and do right click and paste. You can also use "Paint" which is usually located via "All programs then accessories" and just press "Print Scrn". This should deposit a screen shot of the logo screen on to "Word". You then need to save this and send
to Rapport@alliance-leicester.co.uk as an attachment, please enclose your 8 digit id's. You should then all receive a new five digit pin via the post.
When you have received your new pin, log on to internet banking via your web address box. When in internet banking, ensure the web address looks ok, it should be secure ie https and have alliance-leicester/mybank in the address box. While navigating internet banking you should always have a secure site ie https until you log out. If you find the site is unsecure although still in Internet Banking or there are any unusual names in the title, come out straight away and speak to our Customer Services.
Any emails you receive and are not expecting, from any bank or a private source, please delete. If it is from Alliance Leicester and genuine, we will contact you via another route. If you still have the fraudulent email, please forward it to; suspiciousemails@alliance-leicester.co.uk
If you have problems doing the screen print, please action the following:
If a customer is having a problem obtaining a screenshot of the Rapport download, advise them to visit the Trusteer site;
http://www.trusteer.com/confirm
They will be asked to complete the following form That is just 1 of umpteen I had , 6 weeks to get sorted.0 -

Rapport is not a reason for an IE9 install. Whatever your problem with Rapport it's Rapport that's the problem not your browser - IE8 / FireFox / et al !
Was just about to write the same. joe keeps writing that Firefox etc. doesn't support Rapport. It's the other way around, Rapport doesn't support these browsers, let alone other Operating Systems.
After reading a bit on Trusteer's website, it all sounds a bit like snake oil to me. You're even able to install it without administrator privileges...I got hacked into, even with Rapport on,Alliance /Lescester
That says everything...0 -

Hi, Richie, bit confused. I have successfully uninstalled it several times in the past when I had conflict problems.The E-Mail I posted highlighted A&l,s inadequate technical support, as all Santander products are, but it highlights the problem of getting recommpense from them if Rapport is not on PC.I do not think I was hacked, I think it was !!!! up from A&l, they just made me jump through hoops to put Rapport on, but unbeknown to them , I already had it. it is Rapport that doesn,t support IE9, it does support Firefox, but not others, why, I know not. There has to be a financial motive somewhere.Personally, I don,t want it, and as I have proved it didn,t stop me being hacked into, they got my pin and number correct.I don,t know how Rapport could stop that, apart from, how my pin and number was obtained, keylog?? What,s the main objection you have regarding it? I contemplated Slax, Sandbox , boot from disc,instead, I use internet banking very regular, have numerous A/c,s and also sharedeal online, so , security is high on my agenda.Rapport is no panacea, but I cannot see any harm in it being on, or am I missing something?? I appreciate you and Trons advice, Trons given me sound advice, which I have adopted in the past. There must be other punters, very wary of Rapport, but what to do.Richie-from-the-Boro wrote: »- and unable to uninstall it with [ no back door ] administrator privileges... HiYa Tron :beer:0
