Noble_Scarlet wrote:So far on my shopping trips I've found the Body Shop and Lush to be really nice when it comes to samples. The Clarins SA in Debenhams today was lovely. I was looking for a particular men's product which they didn't have any samples for so I asked if they had anything for men. She had a hunt around and came up with an eye serum and shampoo.
However the male SA for Lab Series in HoF was just too pushy. He handed me a DKNY sample as they'd run out of their ones but as soon as he knew I wasn't going to purchase their men's facial wash straight away, he asked for the sample back and said it's only supposed to be for paying customers! I said no problem and that as there's so much competition out there us customers want to test brands first before committing ourselves to them. He then gave the usual sales spiel about why they're so special and confident about their product and I just replied that other companies are happy to hand samples out and maybe he should ask their headquarters to be more generous in supplying them!
good on you! when they say all that and then say if its not right you can bring it back, i tell the truth that im a recycling nut and i wouldnt wanna waste it, then they usually find me something!what did the guy say to you when you told him that?

Loads of samples today in brent cross, mean SA,s in john lewis, chanel counter lady said had no mascars left then her assistent was opening the draw and i saw at least 7 of them, pointed that out to sa who then begrudgingly handed it over. I kicked up a real fuss in john lewis because the infon on the websight said it was beauty month and they were giving lots of samples i went to every counter. they kept saying the new nothing about the promotion but gave me samples anyway, it wasnt till i got home and checked that it was the shefield branch that was having the beauty month:oPeople who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones...

what did the guy say to you when you told him that?
I think the SA sort of half-heartedly agreed with me! Of course, I was saying all this in a jokey manner but I think he knew that I wasn't going to be swayedHe did also say something about being able to return them if not happy but I just said why would I want all that hassle when a sample would be so much easier? Then he said if you liked the sample and wanted to buy you'd have to return anyway. So I just mentioned his competitors again who were happy to give their customers samples and therefore must be confident of their brand
The funny thing is though, I really was looking to buy men's facial wash and he would've been the perfect customer for them as he buys expensive toiletry items - more than I spend on mine!
To be honest I hardly ever buy my make-up and skin care stuff from department stores as my budget at the moment doesn't justify the spending but when I do plan to treat myself to something more expensive, I'm going to go back to the SAs who were nice and helpful and if I liked their products. I'm always receiving comments from the SAs about how good my skin looks so the cheap stuff from Superdrug must be doing their job!0 -

Well done - you are good at getting stuff!
I have been to Brent Cross over the past 2 weeks with various vouchers:
26/10
Chanel in Fenwicks / boots - no mascara, no staff in boots
Origins in John Lewis - 1 mega mushroom serum
Tues 31/10
Benefit, John Lewis - Got a green palette of NW offer (begruginly)
this monday 6/11
Lancome x 3 (boots gave me 2, john lewis 1)
I didnt have the confidence to ask chanel again for the samples and no-one was at their counter in boots again. Doh!
Bough Clinique 'Happy' for mate's birthday pressie. Just as I left I saw this 'lip treats' postcard and it said get a lip gloss sample and make up remover 'free with any purchase'. I queried this and the sa gave me a lip balm (looked squashed) and make up remover 30ml. I did see there were some better sample (sample lip gloss) sets hidden away at the till. So rude!
I am embarking on Boots today in Harrow for Hypnose sample, Debenhams for chanel age defying cream (got it in mailing, but they never have the staff in though in the evenings) and Clinique night cream (as seen on store card bill booklet for this month) sample plus lancome sample.
Will also be going to central london on sat or sun for biotherm glamour mag offer, origins ginger cream offer (instyle mag - december), lancome, chanel, debenhams again for chanel (i found a extra booklet that comes with the card bill in one of their shops recently when i went to get the chanel cream - no staff there that time as they were on lunch so didnt get it) and general shopping. Just in case the first debenhams I go to takes away my booklet - i'll have another 1. Oooh, I bet i end up with nothing though!! I'm too nervous for this stuff.

Hey guys,
How do you get these samples? Do you just go and be really really nice to the SA? I know sometimes you have to have vouchers...
Thanks guys!0
