sadly a lot of people don't think like that. it's even harder in 'front of house' positions.
true, but all this transgenered bisexual lesbian managers or whatever they are are not going to change my mind if i am that way inclined.
if someone puts an ad out for a chef, and some mincing queen comes in and is brilliant, but the restaurant owner hates mincers, and then some straight bloke comes in and he is average, they owner will hire the straight bloke. no govt worker would change his mind.
that is what the lefty has to understand.
some people hate "camp" people. nothing to do with being gay or not. is that covered under the legislation? some people just find "camp" irritating annoying and uneccessary. I think it is tv that does this with norton, clarey and carr - i am trying to think of a non-camp gay person on tv. Oh yeah, Simon Amstell.
I could quite happily spend a few days with Simon Amstell, but it would drive me mad spending time with someone like clarey or norton - or larry grayson.

unfortunately bendix not everyone is as equality minded as you. and if you're on the receiving end of a marklv-mentalitied manager you do need some recourse to legislation.
It's true ninky. I am special. I'm glad you see it.
Could I make an amendment to my earlier assertion that all people are equal, though? I do, of course, exclude marklv from that. I didn't expressly state it because I didn't think the obvious needed pointing out.
Thank you for your attention.0 -
i do not think finding camp irritating is homophobic but to not hire them for a job beacause of it especially where you admit tehy are the best person for the role could be homophobicThe_White_Horse wrote: »true, but all this transgenered bisexual lesbian managers or whatever they are are not going to change my mind if i am that way inclined.

An interesting philosophical point TWH.
To take it further, is being naturally grumpy and finding people annoying a sign of being peoplephobic, and should there be legislation protecting people from me?0 -

I work in a library and someone came in wanting to borrow a text book on criminology. Unfortunately someone had stolen it.
Fabulous post, viva!
Wish I could thank it several times. :rotfl: Kind of thing where life is better tha art could be.0 -
What has ones sexual preferences got to do with the ability to do a job? (Possibly with the exception of bestiality and kiddy fiddling)
Isn't a preference for/tolerance of kiddy fiddling a prerequiste for certain vocations?
Can't think which ones in particular but on a wholly separate note I see that the pope has landed today.Go round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger0 -

As a lapsed Catholic, I bitterly resent that post Pete, and am in two minds to report you for being discriminatory about our fathers.
Being a !!!!!phile is NOT a prerequisite for being a catholic priest. It's merely a perk of the job.0 -

Goodness on reflection I can see how you made that connection but I swear I didn't spot the link in my initial post...;)Go round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger0 -
Did I miss something? Is it 'let's be randomly offensive about minorities Day' today, or something?
Or is marklv just on a roll?0
