perhaps the sunday times should have spent a bit more on diversity training...

Sports presenter Clare Balding's official complaint over an article in the Sunday Times that mocked her sexuality has been upheld.
"It was important for me and, crucially, for millions of other people quietly going about their work, to make the point that we deserve to be judged on our ability to do our jobs and not on the basis of our race, religion, gender or, in this case, sexual orientation. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -
Well it's good to see such an archetypal Lefty (albeit tacitly) admit the truth about the BBC's politics.
the truth is the bbc is free to (and does) criticise across the political spectrum. i don't think that is any sort of secret. commercial channels however are blatantly (and tacitly) right wing. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -
I work in management role in a city law firm. When have i ever said I am a highly paid partner in a London law firm?
As for me being bitter - how ironic coming from MSE's very own angry and resentful public sector IT middle manager.
Your nasty and bitter views may - in fact - represent the common view of the average UK person on the street. I don't know. I rather suspect they do. That doesn't make them anything to celebrate. In fact, such a finding would reinforce my sense of increasing despair and bewilderment at what has happened to the country I love, but no longer respect.
If you, marklv, represent the archetypal Little Englander, I don't think that's much for the country to be proud of.
No, the fact is that you are misreading and misinterpreting my views on a constant basis. There is nothing 'nasty' about my views but, at the same time, they are not the fluffy, sugar-coated makings of a film by Richard Curtis. I live in the real world, not the one inhabited by members of the London 'smart set' who have never set foot in a council housing estate, yet feel qualified to pontificate on all sorts of social and economic issues etc. As for the 'little Englander', he was the one who built the largest empire in the world, one which was allowed to slip away in order to please our 'friends' across the ocean. I could go on, but I hate to rant.........0 -

Point of order, Mr Mosley.
I was born on a council estate, and spent my first fifteen sixteen years there, before leaving home and living rough for the next couple of years.
I'll match my credentials to talk about social and economic issues - particularly those related to poverty - over yours any day.

You may think your views are set in the real world, but you couldn't be further from the truth IMO. It was self determination combined with a naughty chap from Austria which brought the Empire to an end, not the whim of an historically isolationist USA.
BTW like bendix, I was also brought up on a council estate, until I was 12. We haven't all obtained chips on our shoulders since.0 -
I'd be interested to hear about marklv's credentials. I seem to recall him saying sometime ago that he comes from a solidly middle-class homeowning family. I wonder how close HE has been to the council estate whose collective mentality he professes to represent.
Caveat - he is, of course, talking only of representing the views of white council estate tenants. Where i currently live, the vast majority of council tenants are from the immigrant class he despises. I'm sure he doesn't reflect their views.0 -

Actually she was so embarrassed about that and was ribbed on quite a few TV shows. She apologised on one of the shows and also claimed (I don't have the proof) that she apologised to the jockey in person.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
