If they got a good price, I might consider selling mine..... he is a good cook!! :D

As with the stars ratings, I believe if someone is desperate for something and the postage is cheap then the 4.0 + stars isnt a big detterent.
OP charged a fair amount to cover costs and buyer is a fool to expect less!
I prefer my items being sent recorded delivery and willing to pay the cost but have been charged extra £1 sometimes and £1.50 just the once when I messaged before I won asking if they would send via recorded at my expense and they said that was fine..... when they sent my amended payment details they had added £1.50, I asked why this was and they said because of the extra time spent at the post office! 75p for a few extra minutes  I refused and cancelled the win, may have been wrong to do but im not a mug!!

Because I used to have a postie that stole our parcels and the one after that used to leave parcels on the doorstep! Even tho I know they could sign and say it was delivered anyway but it makes me feel a little more guarenteed. I know as far as a buyers concerned there is always Paypal claim back for item not recieved but there is a limit to these (or there used to be!?) Just my preference thats all!

This adds nothing to the OP's question and all your replies but...

I always start off with giving a 5 for all marks and then scale back if I'm less than satisfied with something (i.e. I justify to myself giving anyone less than 5). I get the impression some people begrudge giving a 5 and will always look for a reason not to, no matter how petty.

Recorded delivery doesn't stop this, it doesn't protect against actual loss in the post, it doesn't stop items being genuinely misdelivered and Paypal still pay out if it hasn't been signed for.

If you have a genuinely expensive item worth over £41, SD is the way to go, but for anything else RD is a false economy.

There is no limit to how many times a buyer can claim INR as there are always reasons why a parcel should not arrive. Penalising them for something that isn't their responsibility is daft and is likely to make them shop elsewhere where there are better safeguards in place. If their number comes up too often I suspect RM will investigate if you make the claim, but if the postie is bent as in your case, there's no point in blaming the poor sap who paid out only to have nothing arrive.

  • Just as an aside. For those that sell with P&P added, you do actually pay Paypal fees on the funds you receive for postage too. So if you are charging at cost, you are losing out. You must factor these charges into your starting price/buyitnow price if needs be.
