URGENT Changes to Morgage Interest Support [merged]

Still no news from DWP about my shortfall! Anyone else waiting to hear?
I have just phoned my lender this morning to check payments - DWP paid in on 19th November and a shortfall of £66.28. I don't know if this is the actual/full shortfall until I get the letter. If this is the actual shortfall I will be getting £24.57 a week.
I'm not going to phone the DWP - I shall wait for the letter and in the meantime just keep contacting my lender every 4 weeks or so to find out what they are receiving and make sure that I'm covering the shortfall.0 -
Well, there's still no sign of a letter from DWP regarding the morgage interest payment reduction! Anyone else still waiting?
I wonder how many there are that haven't heard from them and don't even know it's happening?0 -
I have not heard. Not sure what to do really.January Grocery 11/3740

Have you spoken to your lender and increased your payment (if you were already paying the difference) to cover the shortfall?
I have been in contact with my lender and made sure I cover payments. The DWP don't (in my experience) notify the lender about your shortfall.0 -
I have tried contacting them today but they are not in due to the weather. will contact them on monday.
I do have some equity in the house and they were not helpful when I contacted them last month. They told me there was no shortfall.January Grocery 11/3740 -

if nobody got the letters then it needs to be investigated, and people need to call the DWP to state they have never got any change in entitlement letters for that period. the letters are not printed off at the Pension Centres but at a central depot. there is a possibility that TNT/royal mail have got the sacks but have left them sitting somewhere and forgotten about. (not the first time) in the mean time the DWP can send you a benefit breakdown0 -
Good point anmarj. I'm not worried (yet) that I haven't received the letter as I've got a good idea how much my shortfall is. I hadn't thought that there may be some letters lost!
If I don't receive a letter in the next week I shall call them and tell them. I just wonder about those who really don't know that their mortgage interest payments are being cut - I'm sure there will be a few out there who don't realise and don't listen to the news etc.0 -
I've just sent PM to woodbine regarding this very subject.
Not sure you've recieved it though.
My PM'S are showing `not sent`.
If anyone can help, please PM me.

If you want it to be "in the interests of fairness" those on SMI would have to move if they had too many bedrooms for their allowance. That wouldn't work either though would it.
A much fairer and more workable solution would be to pay their full interest rate, but limit all SMI, to 1 or 2 years. That would give claiments plenty of time to sort their finances out.
this wouldnt work,i`m not going into all the details but trust me its unworkable0
