Yes I didn't notice many people complaing when they were getting more than the actual amount. Bet there are many people who have had sizeable chunks paid off their capital debt as well as all the interest.

Agreed, However there are some people like me who have always had to make up the shortfall the people who had equity paid should be forced to give the money back the whole system is unfair!:(

Interview Wednesday so won't need this anymore I hope!

I always check up with my lender every few months anyway after I had a nasty shock over a year ago when my lender called me up saying that I had a shortfall of nearly £300 and they wanted payment A.S.A.P! So no, I didn't have any overpayment.

I still haven't heard anything yet about the shortfall I shall have now! I only know that a payment will be going to my lender around the 26th, so I shall phone my lender to see where I stand - I think they will be paying around £20 a week!

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have received my letter from the DWP, with the amount of interest support they will be paying to my mortgage lender. This doesnt cover the full mortgage instalment so I called my mortgage lender to set up a debit order for the difference.

They indicated that they hadnt received any communication from the DWP as yet and therefore couldnt arrange or even confirm the new amount.

For those that have had this benefit before, will the DWP send a letter to my mortgage lender? I am concerned that it wont reach them in time for my next mortgage payment.

Any suggestions / advice gladly appreciated.

As you know the amount the DWP will pay, I can't see why your lender would not set up a direct debit for the difference. Ring back and speak to someone else.

Yeah, I was going to do that on monday as the person I spoke didnt really sound all the interested. I did say that I would post them a copy of the letter I had received from the DWP - do you think that is a good idea??

You could, but before doing that I would ask to speak to someone who deals specifically with SMI. Is your SMI payment due before your mortgage payment?

The DWP letter states that it will be paid every 4 weeks. Which by my calculation from the 27 October 2010, will the 24 November. My next mortgage payment is due on the 28 November 2010. So I am hoping that they will pay SMI on the 24 and then I will pay the difference on the 28 Nov.

The chap I spoke to did say that I should/could cancel my current debit order and then call them again on the 25 November to see if it had been paid.

I dont like to leave things to the last minute and this is too tight for me. If the SMI isnt paid I wont be able to make the normal mortgage payment.

I am expecting too much efficiency??

There is no reason to expect that the SMI payment won't be made by DWP, the change in the amount paid does not require manual intervention by staff so the computer will just pay at the normal time for the new amount.
