Drink driving charges dropped, Is it possible?

  • I'd have him put down.
  • That's nothing!

A police officer called at our House and said that my Dog had been chasing people in cars. I told him there must be a mistake because my Dog can't drive!

He then said "No, he's been chasing people on Motorbikes too. We've had several complains. He's a danger to the Public". Again, I know this is a mistake because my Dog can't ride a motorbike.

So I laughed at him and told him to **** off. He then got me in a head lock and told me I was under arrest. I asked him what the charges were and he said "There is no charge. It's Free"
  • It could take quite a while to go through the courts, an old neighbour of mine deliberately wrecked another neighbours car while drunk, he was arrested at the scene but then everything was back to normal for several months, still driving and everything. Then one day when everyone had forgotten about it he comes back home with a tag and a 5 year ban.
    Out on blue six..

Police are only interested in motoring offences they can make money out of like using a mobile phone, speeding, and so on.

Only if drivers use a mobile phone, speed, and so on, no money making if they don't break the law.

Seems to me that if the facts are as Binky would have everyone believe, then the Police would have enough evidence and would proceed with the prosecution. If there is insufficient evidence, then the Crown Prosecution Service would potentially drop the charges.

In any event, I do not see what this has to do with Binky. If she was not present at the scene, how can she present these circumstances as fact? She clearly has nothing better do with her time than trawl through court listings, and frankly sounds the sort of potential mother in law from hell, nosey and interfering.

The fact that the Police have refused to give her any further details is precisely because this has nothing to do with her.

I suggest she butts out and gets on with her own life, if she has one at all. :(

When a drunk driver has crashed into your car, possibly injuring you
seriously, your opinion might be different....
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • Look, unless the OP knows for a FACT he was breathalysed at the roadside and failed, was then arrested and provided a positive breath/blood sample at the station it's impossible to tell.

What if the guy provided a positive breath sample at the roadside, and then provided a sample of breath/blood at the station that had fallen to within the limit?

The boyfriend could be giving it the big 'un thinking that getting arrested and then getting away with it makes him some sort local hero amongst his friends. Who knows...

This thread should be locked imo. Know one knows for sure if he was charged.
  • That happened to my daughter, someone bumped into her car in a pub carpark and there just happened to be a police car nearby. So the policeman came over. He decided to breathalyse both of them and my daughter was found to be over the limit as she had just had a half pint of lager before she came out. She was carted off to the police station in handcuffs and when they gave her another breath test there she was under the limit so they let her go, the policeman even drove her back to where her car was parked.

So it is possible to fail at the roadside but pass in the police station.
The boyfriend could be giving it the big 'un thinking that getting arrested and then getting away with it makes him some sort local hero amongst his friends.

My daughter is so embaressed by it that no one dare mention drink driving in her presence, even if it is nothing to do with her, as she goes bright red.
  • Unfortunately, a certain section of society think nothing of getting banned multiple times, engaging the Police in pursuit, just so they can wear it like a badge of honour. Trust me, I've seen it lol

The police don't see any of the money from fines.
Not the ones in court for drink driving no, but speeding and using a mobile phone yes.

Is it a case of terminology being mixed up? You can fail a breathtest and although arrested still not subsequently be charged for drink driving. Watch this from around 51 minutes to see what I mean
