Drink driving charges dropped, Is it possible?
Hello everyone,
I am new to this site so please be patient.
My Daughters Boyfriend who I do not get on with was caught Drink Driving on 18th July after being involved in an accident with a parked car, he was breathalized and arrested after it took 4 police officers to stop him driving away after the accident (he was being tailed by 2 police cars at the time).
Back at the station he was being aggressive and abusive with the officers and was restrained before being put in the cells.
He admits that he was charged with Drink Driving but less than 2 weeks later at the start of August he said to my Daughter he was informed that the charges were dropped, my daughter has said to me that she doesn't believe him and we have both been checking our local court lists but his name hasn't appeared so far.
Has anyone had any experience of Drink Driving charges being suddenly dropped or am I right in thinking we are being lied too.
My Daughter has asked the Police and they won't tell her if this is true as they quote privacy laws.
Binky.

Yes it's possible.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Seems to me that if the facts are as Binky would have everyone believe, then the Police would have enough evidence and would proceed with the prosecution. If there is insufficient evidence, then the Crown Prosecution Service would potentially drop the charges.
In any event, I do not see what this has to do with Binky. If she was not present at the scene, how can she present these circumstances as fact? She clearly has nothing better do with her time than trawl through court listings, and frankly sounds the sort of potential mother in law from hell, nosey and interfering.
The fact that the Police have refused to give her any further details is precisely because this has nothing to do with her.
I suggest she butts out and gets on with her own life, if she has one at all.0 -
I have asked a BG to have a look at this post as i am unsure that it should be here.:starmod:Everyone's a star and deserves the right to twinkle:starmod:0

Perhaps we should all just ignore it, and it will gradually be superseded by news of compers wins etc.
Can't imagine Binky will have the time to read the responses anyway - she's probably trawling through tomorrow's court listings! :rotfl:0 -
If he was charged then he would have been summoned to court around 1-2 weeks after the offence, they would have enough evidence to charge him from the breath test results. I would say the likeliness of him being let off is next to none, courts would make an example of him and he would be looking at a fine and a ban and possibly a suspended sentence depending on his history. Given he was running from the police he may well have had other charges and could possibly have been ordered to attend probabation meetings and a drink drivers course.
It sounds to me that he went to court and was given a ban and a fine and felt he had to lie as others may hang this over his head much longer than a court judge ever would. I could be very wrong though.
I do agree that although you are concerned for your daughter, ultimately this is your daughter's boyfriend's business, and what your daughter chooses to do about it should be her decision and something they alone decide. Either way he has commited a very serious crime, whether he has been punished or not does not change that fact.Comping wishlist for 2017

Or maybe he hasn't committed a very serious crime, and that's why they've not pursued the prosecution?0 -
Police are only interested in motoring offences they can make money out of like using a mobile phone, speeding, and so on.0

The police don't see any of the money from fines.0
