Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning everyone  Another dry day here, so I'll be able to cycle to work again :j Last day of my working week :j

I'm making a new dish for tea (a broccoli pasta thing from Economy Gastronomy ;) ) then out for a Scouts meeting.

Going to make breakfast for DD, get her off to catch the train to college, then get DS up and have a shower :)

Have a great Old Style day everyone :A

Off to work soon, beakfast eaten, packups made, fish fed, hubby dropped at the station, DW unloaded, I still need to unpack the car which at the moment contains a high chair, travel cot, car booster seat, bag of puzzles & bag of books, all for DD.
Last night I did a couple of hours paid for sewing & an hours knitting & an hours apple prepping & will do the same tonight.
We are back to having no useable toilets at work & by the end of today will have no printing paper, I think I'll come home when that happens, lol.
    Chicken stirfry for tea tonight.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Hya Penpen, sistercas, Hester and all to follow,
Lovely and bright here so will emptly the laundry baskets and get that out.
Meals from the freezer again today. Sometimes these seem like a lucky (or unlucky) dip!
Must pick tomatoes and check the aubergines, cucumbers and melons (which are delicious but very small - about the size of an orange).
Should also follow Hester and do an hour fruit prepping. Still trying to address Mount Cluttermore:( It will be great if it gets cleared:)
    Right, off I go,
    Cheers m'dears x
Hugs and spoons to those who need them, Have a good day.

    Morning all,

Looks quite bright here today, :j shame I am off to work,

Need to swish and swipe the kitchen before I go, chichen fried rice for dinner tonight, will shove all the odd bits of veg in from the fridge.

The saga with my brother gets worse, he keeps phoning my mum asking her to collect the children from school, which is at least 10 miles each way, she then sits at bro's house till they get in from work, so she is out the house at least 3 - 4 hours, since my dad has been ill he dad gets frantic if she is out too long, and panics, so they had a blazing row when she got in, she is really unable to leave him for that long, unless one of us is with him. I tried to phone brother last night, but the phone has been cut off due to them not paying , so I will try again today. I told him before that he has to stop asking

Need to go and make my lunch, and get the rubbish bags out, then get ready foir work.

    Have good days all,

And Jackie O, keep going, hopefully it will make a huge difference to you after xxxx

Clear, bright but nippy here, so will take a chance a put a the washing on the line. Quiet evening last night, DS1 had Army Cadets so was taxi service for him. DS2 came home from school yesterday with the application forms for Senior School, he's my baby, that's scary!! I feel old now.

Dinner was lovely last night and I managed to resist the apple pie so I had banana custard - haven't had that for years! I'm working a bit later than normal today due to no staff, sickness and holidays, but will make a lasagne when I get home, will do wedges/jacket pots with it and salad.

Am trying to keep up with all the various jobs as in 2 weeks time I'm going to do a caravan handling course on my days off so no days off that week!

Will be menu planning and writing shopping list possibly tonight or tomorrow.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

OOOhhhh NMLC - Banana custard - thats pudding sorted out for tonight then. Today OH is out at a course all day, boys are at school and I am determined to find my mojo (ala Cheryl Cole!!!) So will be spending the day cleaning, tidying, cooking and dog walking. As freeview keeps breaking up I believe we're in for a storm - yep, its looking pretty windy and black out there. Tea tonight will be one of the fish pies I made for the freezer last week. Better get on as the boys are screaming again!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Sorry, not been posting but have read through each day - seem to have been too busy! JackieO - good luck with the arm hope it will be worth all the discomfort. Wish I had your determination and spirit!

Was on a course all day yesterday which was ok but quite a long day. Came in and showered and then went with DD, DS2 to meet DS1 and GF to go the Jamie's Italian in Glasgow. Went in to be told that they had no gas so couldn't cook (aaaaarghhh!!). Anyway went over to Wetherspoons for their grill night and all enjoyed a couple of drinks, a meal and a good chat. Wanted to get everyone together as it is the anniversary of losing DH today as everyone is at work/uni/college today. Some will go to the crematorium for a visit but I would rather not.

Enjoy your days, hope the poorlies/downs are feeling better and I take it Falady is otherwise engaged!

    Take care XX

Big hugs for you Camelot. I hope you can spend the day with some sweet memories xxxx

A quick one from me. I don't have the 40 min round trip school run today (mindee is being dropped at school by her dad) so I just have to drop DD off at my mums house and then take DS and stay there as it's Forest Schools this morning :D Wee bit chilly I have to say and the woods will probably be even cooler in the shade. Time for the thermals I think :rotfl:

Not much OS probably today due to being at school. I will have to get back and clean the bathroom and wash the towels. Got one load on in the WM at the mo - not sure whether I'll be able to hang it out though when I get back. I love my new WM but it takes over 2 hours to do one 30/40 degree wash

Tea tonight is the now cook sausage casserole that H switched off in th SC yesterday. Will just re-heat it when I cook the spuds.

Redruby - any chance of your mum learning to say "NO" to your brother? They are def taking the p*ss :(

Hugs (and spoons ;)) for those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.

    Morning All ,

Bright and sunny here today but a little nippy. Have had to give in and wear a jacket, not that I mind massively though because the colder it gets, the closeer Christmas is :j :rotfl:

    camelot - big hugs xx
ruby - thanks for the links yesterday. Your poor Mum and Dad - I hope you can sort your brother out.
marchio - I shouldn't laugh but "Mount Cluttermore" :rotfl: very clever

Have got to pop out today and get some goodies for work for my birthday tomorrow. Seriously, does anyone know who started that tradition?! It's crazy - surely they should be buying me cakes and not the other way around?! I did make some HM stuff at the weekend, but DH and Mum and Dad have made inroads into that bless them. I confess I may have helped a little too :o:D

OS wise, I'm just trying to decide whether I fancy liver and bacon for tea tonight. I bought it last week at Tescos and when I unpacked it (to split it into portions and freeze it) the smell was vile - my Mum actually made us both face masks out of tea towels it was that bad :rotfl:. So it's kind of put me off a bit - Mum cooked hers and it was fine and tastey, but I'm not sure. Otherwise, I'll probably do spice and lime pork chops with griddle veg.

Anyway, must crack on, hugs to all in need or want xx
