I always like to rub my steak over with a garlic clove and sprinkle a little sea salt and pepper on top before cooking.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

I've got one of those griddle pans and I love whacking the steak in there. We never have ours well done as it tends to go a bit rubbery and bland then I do ours medium so it's still a bit pink in the middle and it goes down well everytime.
MMMM this has made me really hungry now, steak chips, peas, onions rings, fried egg and grilled toms..... heaven!!!!Marriages are made in heaven, but then again so is thunder and lightning!!!.....getting divorced lol :j

This is what we are having for our Xmas dinner, but I never knew I was supposed to marinade it. I was just going to fry it, arrggh, is it going to taste horrible now? Can I rectify it? I haven't got a lot in.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Hi
We dont use marinade either and turns out well every time. Just make sure the frying pan is hot. We like ours medium rare so literally only takes minutes. We normally serve with mushrooms, salad, some chunky chips and garlic bread.
It will be lovely.

Get your pan really hot, but with no oil in it.
Brush the steaks liberally with oil, then place on the hot pan.
I like them rare, so 5 mins each side is good for me.
Allow to rest for 5 - 10 mins before eating so that the juices can redistribute through the meat. If you eat straight from the pan the meat will still be 'seized' from the heat.

Hello, the title says it all really. My hubby likes steak well done whereas I prefer medium. I've tried grilling and frying but it always ends up like rubber or as dry as a bone. I've tried different types of steak but they all come out so horrible that I've given up buying steak at all.
I've now decided to try braising steak with the hope that it will be tender and tasty and not at all chewy. Only problem is I don't know how to cook that either! Would any kind person be able to give me some tips please?0 -
Are you using the hottest temperature you have going and a griddle pan? I always wait till the pan is smoking hot before the steaks go in, it means the house is full of smoke but hey, the steak is good!

Braising steak is for braising. If you don't cook it slowly it is going to be as tough as old boots!
You need to use it in a stew or casserole......0 -
I have the same problem. I have a George Foreman's and have been told that is the answer but haven't done it yet! I always do braising steak as stew in the slow cooker and that is fine! It is the frying steak I have the problems with.
