I like to rub garlic in to my steak and put under the grill on a high heat to sear it, then put a nob of butter on then reduce the heat a bit. make sure you give it a good bashing before as well

If you pan fry it you can make a lovely red wine, mushroom or creamy peppercorn sauce using the meat juices

Heat a griddle (or frying pan) until it's smoking. Rub a little oil onto steaks and sesaon with a twist of pepper. Sear steaks on both sides, turn down heat to medium and cook steaks to your liking. Remove and leave to rest on warmed plate. Fry some sliced mushrooms in the griddle, add a splash of drambuie and scrape any meaty bits off the pan, add cream and heat through. pour over steaks. Serve with creamed potatoes and green beans.

Pan fried steak with stilton and mushroom sauce is tasty too  Just fry some sliced mushrooms after removing steaks from pan, add cream and crumbled stilton. Remove from heat when the stilton has melted.

  • If i fry mine I usually add a dash of soy sauce, if you haven't got that or additionally coook with an onion as it helps soften the meat. I usually bash mine to break the grain down but let it rest before serving so the meat has a chance to recover from the cooking and softer when you eat it.

Steak in pepper sauce, quick easy and it tastes great!

Dry fry the steaks in a frying pan, when well browned pop into a hot oven to finish cooking.

Add half a stock cube, made up in a litte water to deglaze the pan.

Add garlic, mixed herbs and black pepper ( I like lots).

Pour in some white wine (or brandy if you have some) and simmer.

Reduce the sauce or add cornflour to thicken.

Finally stir in some double cream (optional, but it makes the sauce much richer).

As halloweenqueen says it's important to let the meat rest for a few minutes before serving.

I usually serve this with mushrooms cooked in garlic butter on top, brocolli, sugar snap peas and new potatoes.
