Had a car accident and confused.

Noted. Having spoken to Drive Assist again this morning they have now agreed to pick the vehicle up today between 12 and 5. My wife have done about 5 miles in the car on day one prior to me coming on here. Can I record the driver who is picking the vehicle up confirming the car is ok or get him to sign something myself? Unless I get an independant witness to sign photo's at the time of collection it would be a waste of time as they could claim something happened between time of photo's and collection?
Again, thanks for all your advice and help. It's been invaluable.
Be aware he may refuse to sign something, but it doesnt hurt to ask.
When my Drive Assist car was collected, the delivery driver took the keys from my brother. I wasn't present and the car wasn't parked at the address it had been delivered too! My brother didn't disclose who he was, or why he had the keys, he just handed them to the driver who disappeared with the car. Nothing was signed by anyone.
As I have said before - shoddy 'company'.
I'm glad you have managed to get them to collect the car today. Hopefully you will have no hassle with the third parties insurance company admitting liability.0 -
Erm, since when did insurers or brokers for that matter, start to tell their customers to deal with their own claims? I've only had a couple of claims myself over the years but on both occasions I just phoned the insurer or broker whichever applicable and they dealt with everything. The PI issue may be more complicated and you can instruct someone to pursue that for you - but the vehicle stuff is down to them to sort, surely?0

No insurer will deal with a claim unless the policyholder makes it!
In this instance the policyholder won't make a claim via his policy, but wants to pursue the third party directly.0 -
I'm the one who is confused now - is this something to do with no claims or something or what? Why ring the insurer in the first place then, I don't get it?0
-
You need to inform your own insurer about an incident irrespective of whether or not you are going to make a claim.
If the third party is clearly liable, then you can pursue them directly (you would have to anyway to recover all uninsured losses, or if you only have third party cover)0 -
Car collected from Drive Assist. He would not sign my make shift reciept however I called a couple of witnesses to view him sign on his PDA to say no damage. That was the best I could do.
I've asked a company called Direct Accident Management to deal with my losses and PI claim etc. They seem quite good. No pressure, asked if I needed a cover vehicle but I've said no at present as cannot drive easily and off work because of whiplash/back injury.
Again, big thanks. Feel slightly better about it all now. Anything else I need to know?
I am assuming the Drive Assist will now try to recover their costs? Is it ok for them to do this while I am using a management company?0 -
DA will just invoice for the car they provided, for the time it was with you. Have a feeling that you might receive the invoice !The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0

Hi Huckster, I have that feeling to which is why I treid to get rid of it asap. Of course I'll challenge any bill through to myself either via them or claiming back through the third party if possible.0

If you do get a bill, discuss it with DAM, who should be able to get it included in your claim amongst your out of pocket expenses incurred as a result of the incident.0
-
Cheers, that was what I was hoping. If they cant get the money from the third party though there if definetly something wrong with them.0
