9yr old boy sleepover party ideas - help

My DS will be 9 in a couple of weeks and the cheapest thing we could think to do was have a sleep over party.
I've thought of a few things to do with them if it's not raining but i'm having a bit of a brain freeze for ideas if it does rain.
The thought of just giving them free reign of the house fills me with dread :rotfl:.
My sis came up with the idea of a Wii tournament with some little cheap trophies for winners.
Have any of you had a boys sleepover party and what did you do for entertainment?

I am doing this in 2 weeks for my 8 year old son.
We are going to put them all in my sons room with the dvd player and wii and lots of food and let them get on with itShut up woman get on my horse!!!0 -
Order a pizza and get in some popcorn. Rent a couple of movies and games and leave them to it.0

I would definitely go down the movie route as well. Pop, popcorn, sweets, pizza and Im sure they will be happy.0

This is probably what my DS would pick given the option :rotfl:.
I will say to him about the dvd idea and see what he thinks.
Would have to be in the living room though as he doesnt have a tv in his bedroom.
Thanks.

As a treat could you move the TV&DVD player into his rrom for the night so he feels a bit more grown up. My mum used to do this when I had friends over, I loved it and it meant she wasn't forced to watch our rubbish (her words not mine) if you are concerned about him watching stuff he shouldn't you can always remove the arieal and that way they can only watch DVDs0

Get a basket of pegs and your oldest duvets and let them play dens in his room if it's big enough.;)
Have a range of camping gear so they can "camp" inside with their sleeping bags etc. maybe some kind of survival / camping based quiz with prizes?Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

My advice is - DON'T DO IT!!!!! If you want to keep your sanity then it's good advice. My son had a sleepover for his 9th birthday and invited 4 of his good friends - it was a nightmare for me but he had a whale of a time. However if you are determined to do this then I'd advise not to invite the boys round too early and end the sleepover as early as you can the following morning. I did from about 6.30pm - 10.30am and couldn't wait for the parents to collect their kids - everyone of them asked me if I was sure I wanted to do this and afterwards I realised why.
Foodwise, pizza is good as there's little or no cooking involved and easy enough to clean up. If you do go ahead with a wii tournament make sure you don't leave them to their own devices as my son had an interactive game (birthday present) that plugged into the tv and was controlled via a foot operated mat which lasted for all of about 5 minutes as his friends 'played' on it and broke it! To be honest though, for the majority of the time they made their own amusement interspersed with running riot throughout the house!! I also did a treasure hunt for them too where they had to solve puzzles and I was able to send them in the garden to hunt for clues.
Good luck - you'll need it!0 -

I'm sure they will be.....they'll also be so hyperactive that they won't go to sleep :rotfl::rotfl:YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
really....it's not hard to understand :T0 -

This was the cheapest thing we could think of and we can only squash in 3 friends.
My sister's neighbour had one a couple of weeks ago for her daughter and she had 15 kids to stay
I'm not looking forward to it lol but he is. I figure i can suffer it for one night and we've arranged for OH to take them home at 11am."Opportunity only knocks once.It doesnt knock, knock again, then leave a note asking you to give it a call back when you've got your s*** together".John Connolly0
