HI-- would suggest ZoleAlarm Internet security suite or Kaspersky.

Do a ggole search for reviews on these -- and see for yourselves.

    Cheers

All you need should be in the guide I mentioned post #6 including a choice of software firewalls and antivirus.
  • Thanks guys. I'm waiting for Freeola/BT to sort my Broadband out and then I'll check it out.
  • Once you have your firewall up and running, test it using the below website.

    http://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?rh1dkyd2

It'll tell you about the first 2000 ports or something like that, about how secure they are. Ideally they will show up as stealthed - like mine do :) But mines from my router firewall, not my software one.

NB: If the link doesn't work just type shields up in google and look for the grc website. Test all ports!
  • Don't forget to get some spyware software too, like spybot and adaware (both free)

    Zone Alarm firewall.

I also have CCleaner, Spybot and Ad-aware.

    I agree totally.

Avoid McAfee it can be a lot of trouble.

Just as good as a AVG but it also talks to you, this is either a plus or minus depending how you feel.

Gib_Gib, Rikki .... nice list but don't foget to add Spyblaster and SpywareGuard from Javacool (steps 2 & 3 respectively of the guide I refer to in post #6).

Also ensure you have Spybot's Resident Tea Timer real time protection tool running.
