It appears that HETAS aren't very good especially where problems are concerned. Know of someone who got a HETAS registered man to fit a wood burner. He and his wife came in one day to discover that their carbon monoxide alarm had gone off so they called out a chimney sweep(logical step) The chimney was swept and the lining came down in pieces too. Another HETAS reg engineer came out and did a report, basically the wrong grade of lining had been used(think it was a gas liner instead oof wood burner type) There was no ventilation bricks either which was also required due to stove size/heat output. The gentleman paid over £1,500 to get issues resolved. original installer ignored all communication, HETAS not interested, MP has got involved too, so far all to no avail.
Just what is the point in going to an engineer who is a member of whatever organisation(be it HETAS, FENSA etc) if they will not investigate when things are done incorrectly!!0
