So it's not really Sky's incompetence, is it?
Canceling the DD after (you thought) you had closed the BT account would have prevented BT taking any more payments.

  • So, just to be totally clear on the situation...

You wanted to go to Sky for line rental AND calls.
Sky said they'd deal with it all.
Sky only took calls and left line rental with BT but you were unaware of this.
BT kept charging you for a package that nobody cancelled with them directly.
You only just noticed you had been charged for 18 months.

    That about right?

If thats right then BT is in the right to have kept charging you. If its wrong then please tell me the bit I got wrong. Thanks. :)

Thats right , Sky know they ballsed up and have sorted my package free of charge.

They said I wouldnt need to do anything else . so I didnt and yes I have only just noticed I have been charged for it for 18 months . Sky just transfered calls , I was paying line rental to BT which i was fine with . But didnt realise I still had packages with them which were supposed to have been cancelled.

Im going throught their complaints process but feel like I am flogging a dead horse. I havnt recived billing emails off them between 10 /11/2009 and 17/05 2010 and 13/02/2008 and 10/08/2009 and thought these were just for the line rental.

I have checked them now for the last 18 months and I was getting charged for the add ons and calls , yet no one ever said cancel the add ons with BT.

I have had a bad 18 months (personal problems) and really only just got round to this as I have not had the strength. .

But Sky couldn't have cancelled your BT DD for you-only you can do that.

I was still paying for line rental through them . So I couldnt cancel . Sky didnt take over line rental initially . Just calls , yet i was still paying for some calls to bt.

  • Yeah, BT were fully right to have kept billing you for the calls package then. If you didnt get bills/billing emails then thats another thing totally and probably your best way forward.

That completely contradicts what you said in post 11, when you said that you thought you had moved to Sky initially for everything, including line rental, and you only just noticed?
If you thought that everything was transferred over from BT, you would have cancelled the DD.
And you can't have had calls on both suppliers at once-it has to be one or the other.

Thats what i will be doing , they are stating they sent it to my email , however I have never recived them monthly and keep good track of my ebills . They are also stating they sent the paper ones , yet never recived anything from them regarding that either . I have mentioned to them proof of posting is not proof of reciept.

How can I check something if I dont know Im being billed for it. The ebilling reminders wernt sent . They then stated it was my responsibility to log into my account to check the bills that I dint know were there.

The first thing I knew about it was when I recived my reminder a few months ago. Im getting stressed about this already . I can feel my BP rising. Not good.
