  • Thanks Hammyman, 3/4 hour is correct for EGR clean and it was disgusting. Also spotted the oil was 'orrible whem I removed the dipstick, just about to change it. Haven't done the exhaust manifold, will do that next is problem persists. You're a star

Brilliant walkthrough by Hammyman. I dont have a mondeo, but the EGR has always been a bit of a mystery to me on modern deisels.
I once had a Citroen C4 Hdi that allegedly had a "faulty" EGR, possibly needed cleaning, but the garage couldnt be sure, and the part was £420 and a couple of hours to change because of its location behind the engine, apparently its fingertip stuff working blind to change.

Thanks guys. Andy, you really should do the inlet manifold because the first two ports and the bit that the EGR bolts onto will be blocked quite badly. When you look at the design of it, a cynical person could be forgiven for thinking Ford had deliberately designed it to block solid at 100,000 miles.
