Could you tell me more about this please? I have only seen reference to disadvantaged area relief, which we have taken advantage of in the past. I know the weblink to check the postcode for this is http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/so/pcode_search.htm
However, I have also bought Listed buildings in conservation areas and have never heard of this type of relief and would very surprised if it did exist.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

We have just agreed to buy a house that was advertised at £265. Initially offered £246 which was rejected, but vendor said they knew the max they'd get was £250 because of SD.
Offered £248k and accepted:j
I think our vendor's estate agent had already discussed this issue with them sop they were prepared. Of course we were lucky that we weren't bidding against anyone else (another couple were interested but hadn't SSTC) or it could have gone for more.0 -

There isnt much I can tell you other than we thought we had to pay it so thats why we offered £15,000 for fixtures and fittings.
It was only after we completed that our Solicitor told us about the Conservation area exemption.
We then had some forms come through for us from the Inland Revenue (I think) which we had to fill out as a "NIL" return for Stamp Duty.
We have now just sold and the folks who have bought it aren't having to pay it either.
Im not able to look at the paperwork to find out any more than that as everything is packed at the moment.0 -
I'd be interested to know more about it too if you can post back sometime with info as my last house was in a conservation area & I certainly had to pay stamp duty when I bought it. Now you've got me wondering if I paid unnecessarily.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
