Contaminated fuel

  • Leave a sample of fuel to stand in jam car somewher safe for a few days. Diesel is heavier than petrol so it should sink and petrol will float. Any water should again float to the top.
  • Id leave a sample of fuel in a jam sandwich somewhere

If you answer a post twice you dont really know.
  • Well cant use the tank up now as she refuses to start at all.

Having to wait til a week on Friday til someone can come and sort her.

Interesting stuff on websites about spark plugs getting coated in some black greasy stuff thats not oil.....

Also that report about Shell's last innovative fuel causing damage to many cars...
  • Well clean the plugs then....

Also try resting the idle control valve.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

    1. I am not a mechanic.
    2. What would be the point when its gonna do the same thing again until the rest of this fuel is out of the system.
    3. Been advised NOT to drive it in case further damage to injectors etc - read thro links I am not in any way an isolated case.....

OP you really need to establish a 'timeline'/audit trail and prove the garage fuel caused the problem....have you 'googled' yet? I suspect you have and found zilch?

All documented and have plenty of witnesses. Try reading the links - there's plenty more having same troubles....

Yes but their issue went away after a top up. Yours is persistent hence my comment about a blocked filter.

You don't have to be a mechanic. Just have a spark plug socket and some contact cleaner.

The idle control valve should be even easier. Usually its just key to ign 2 and pump throttle 5 times. You should be able to find out but if it was the fuel that may well solve your issues.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.
