  • i have been living in Spain for about 4 years now with my partner. we have since split up & i am being forced to move back to the UK with my 2 small dogs.

    i will be moving back to the manchester area, i have very little money & will have no job! I have never claimed housing benefits - is there any way to contact someone who can help me before i move back over?

    otherwise i will be moving back over with nowhere to live!

    can anyone help?! :eek::eek::eek:

    But you run your own web based business, surely doesn't matter if you are in Spain or the UK, you can still carry this on can you not?
  • oh yes i will of course be still keeping the business going but just as a sideline... the work i did in Spain was for an estate agency & playing music in a bar

    He may be if he works less than 16 hours a week...
  • thats silly, i can get a terrace house rental that is the same price as a house share...

    The Central Manchester and Southern Manchester shared accommodating rate is £63/65 per week - are you sure you can rent a house for that money?

    You need to check the Local Housing allowance in your preferred area - for a shared let.
    If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

    £63-£65 (if that is the rate) is the maximum that you can get... eg if you are not working, if you have any income this amount will be reduced.

    if you are not working and claim JSA @ £51.85 per week where would you find the additional £20+ per week for rent given that the £51.85 would be to cover all your household bills and food (which is likely to be a challenge anyway)
