http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/assembly_instructions/godmorgon-mirror-cabinet-with-door__AA-604943-5_pub.pdf
Pages 17 & 18 shows the hinges are now screwed to the door & cabinet
The door is particle board & mirror glass, rather than 2 x mirrors glued together & glued to the hinges0 -
Thank you. They can come and fit that for me then at their inconvenience not mine. Cheers0

Hi
I notice this thread goes back a long way. Just wondering what the outcome with IKEA was?
I have a large 2 door Godmorgon cabinet, older design with the heavy door glued to hinge. One door fell off as my 7yr old daughter was standing brushing her teeth. Luckily the edge wedged in corner of wall so it didn't fall on her!
I contacted IKEA who were very unhelpful. We didn't keep the receipt so they're saying without a date/time and store purchased they'll not honour the guarantee. I argued that the fact that the item is obviously faulty/not fit for purpose, the lack of receipt is surely irrelevant?
Just looking some advice before I have to go and buy a new cabinet through no fault of my own!
Thanks

We never had any receipts either, its not something you keep for 5 years.
If you paid via a card, you maybe able to use a Bank/Card Statement.
I will PM you the number of the UK Customer Care Manager whom dealt with our case.0 -
I had that nonsense too - its clearly an IKEA made unit. I suggested they check the Ikea Family card record that would show this purchase but apparently the search function is abysmal... Great:eek:
As this is a serious safety issue that could potentially disfigure someone or sever someone's arm off, and that I found the issue via my 10 year old daughter screaming as it fell on her, and her trying to hold it, I persevered...
I got a direct line to a head of dept and she sorted a replacement and a refund for fitting with no fuss. She was very helpful but very intrigued how I got her number, and asked me not to share. But if you still draw a blank and get fobbed off I will share, or show here this post.
They have a duty of care here based on the flawed decision to hang very heavy doors using glue and all to be based in a damp bathroom environment. There is no fault in the customer so sort it they should as a successful global company.0 -
TK - maybe you gave me that via FB? Thanks if so!
Now she really wont like it that you called her direct so be very aware of that...0 -
I hope you had a different style/type of replacement. You wouldn't want to install a dangerous one again!0

Ikea changed the design in 2011 & now the door is wooden, with the mirror mounted to it.0
