Birthday gift for 4 year old girls

  • Whats with the "going rate" thing?

Forget what the going rate might be..........you buy or make what you want to give. Birthdays and parties are an enjoyable experience and a gift ought to be given happily, with love, and no thought need be given to cost.

When people say "Its the thought that counts" it means the thought that has been put into buying a fantastic present for that particular person and cost doesnt matter.

How about you give them a 'Make your own braclet set' that you have put together yourself? You can find gorgeous beads and sparklies (even second hand would be ok) with fastenings or elastic. You can even print out personalised instructions to make it even more special....and find a pretty box to put it all in.

Or.....get a massive box, fill it with torn up newspaper and then individually wrap a few little pressies, such as a choccy bar each, a piece of jewellry, stickers etc and wrap them individually and 'hide' them in the newspaper.........they will have so much fun finding them!

You dont have to spend loads to make a birthday gift special.........sometimes, a cheaper present well thought out is treasured far more than an expensive, disliked one.
  • tesco have a BOGOF on childrens books at the moment, i would add to that a packet of sweets or a colouring book and pencils. £5 each is reasonable BUT i tend to use offers so it appears ive spent a fiver or more but rarely do !

Somewhere between 5 and 10 GBP depending on how well your child knows this one.
  • I LOVE Grafix stuff for kids of that age group: good quality, durable, interesting and best of all CHEAP but look dearer than they are. You can find their products in Dunelm Mill and other stockists. I bought some Grafix Christmas presents in there the other day: got a jigsaw and a puppet making set for £6 all told.

I would spend a fiver each MAX on kids we didn't particularly know, and a tenner on the kids of friends.

You can also do a lot worse than looking in Aldi on the non-food sections. I found 2 Disney colouring and book sets in there for £1.99 each.

Also, Wilkinsons 'make your own' stuff is brilliant value and you could get 5 decent enough presents in there for a fiver, as a lot of their make your own stuff is 97p.

It doesn't matter what you spend and it doesn't need to be a lot. Things like books, colouring books and jigsaws seem to go down well and aren't too expensive.

I would definitely buy 2 separate presents, rather than one between them as I'm sure they'd both like to open their own presents. I had a joint party for my 2 dds this year and everyone bought them separate presents.

Do you have a 'Range' near you? They had some lovely dog toys on the end of a 'hard lead' if that makes sense. £4 ish each and my neices (2 and 4) adore them!
