Hope you've all been behaving while I've been away :p

I'm at OH's now - first lot of furniture has been delivered by my cousin, second lot is due to be delivered by my dad later this afternoon. OH's plane should be landing in about 5 minutes, so he'll get home for when I finish work and we can then argue about where the furniture goes ;)

Oh well... I suppose I should do some work... Catch up with you all later.
dunno about them (^ points up thread) but I am ALWAYS VERY good;)

I think that is about all I can safely do on my own. I ended up sorting out the bottom of the wardrobe anyway, it was mainly coathangers falling everywhere so they are now in a carrier bag on the back of the door. I found the bed under all the carp, said carp has either been put away or piles, 1 for OH to sort and 1 of my stuff to go in the attic.

The only things left to do for it to be presentable are
clear around the bed, most of the stuff is to go in the attic
decide whether to put the christmas tree and decs in the attic or just leave them now :o
sort out the clothes in the wardrobe so all OHs shirts can hang IN the wardrobe rather than on the doors
This would make it tidy although still cluttered but at least we could invite people to stay. I am ashamed to say that none of this will take long and could have been done ages ago. Maybe when OH gets home and sees what I have managed to do in about 30 mins he may be inspired to help me do the above bits.
    * sits down after feeling rather overcome after seeing pigs flying by outside* :rotfl::rotfl:
or maybe I will have to finish it off and ask OH to sort out the heavy things

    Friday- spare room
    Level One
Clear away anything that isn't in it's place, clothes, toys, books etc
    Level Two
    Vacuum the floor
Dusting.. all those shelves and flat fluffy surfaces!! Don’t forget the light shade and curtain pole!!!
    Level Three
Sort through a cupboard/chest of drawers and get the clothes out which are no longer wearable, too small or out of season!
Wipe any sticky marks off walls and doors
    Extras
    1. Wipe the radiators, skirtings and window & door frames!
    2. Sort through one box or toys.. if you have no children find a box of junk.. is there anything that needs to go?
    3. [STRIKE]End of week fling!! grab a binbag and fill it with stuff to leave the house.. rubbish or charity shop or to donate to a friend![/STRIKE]

personally I WOULD put the tree and the decs in the attic. Then you will get used to NOT having them around and get them put away when you take them down after xmas. The more you clear the more you will clear because you will find the freedom from clutter liberating and energising (well, that's how I feel).

robberbutton its AnW'sMum's patented:rotfl: method of doing her house - you select a an area - not a whole room - maybe just a chair or the coffee table or a piece of worktop - just one small place and you clear it, you clean it and only put back what is meant to be there - deal with what you have cleared awy - the trick is to keep that 'dot' tidy - you can then do another or leave it until you have time and move on and do the same to another bit - just like dot2dot books you aim to join up your 'dots' and have a whole area tidy - hope that makes sense my brain isnt in gear yet!

I may have to steal that for page 1 seeing as people keep on asking!!

This is my theory too but OH has already suggested leaving them down. We have a few musical instruments in there that we rescued from his dad's house when we cleared it, they definately can't go in the attic so the room will look a bit cluttered as it is, I would like that to be it for the clutter though. OH is getting better, he is used to a tidy organised house now and most of the time puts his stuff away (well he does once I put it in one pile anyway).

  • Right, between 3 and 4 I tidied LR again, hoovered sofas, hoovered rug and moved it out of the way. Pulled out TV unit and got all the carp from under it and gave it a sweep (there were 5 of DS1's cars under there and as I handed him them he said "thank you very much" for each one, I nearly wet myself giggling, too cute), sorted carp on side tables and swept under those, and moved both sofas, found more cars/toys/assorted gibble, tidied all that up and swept under sofas.

Just fed bub, now going to change his nappy and give him his medicine which he hates, then vacuum lr again, dust and mop, put the rug back and then collapse in a heap. Oh and make ds1 his dinner at some point too :)

Everyone is being very productive today :j
