Ignore Nobjocki (I agree it's a very apt name), you can always tell when someone is losing in a debate - they go scurrying round checking up on posts that have no relelvance to the one under discussion.

Me and how many others, Nobjocki?

Or are you embarrassed to admit that there's not a lot of people standing on your side of the fence?

    Envy. It's a terrible thing.

extract from one of your posts yesterday:
Insurance is one of the biggest cons of the modern world - there are far more people whose claims have been rejected on spurious grounds by insurance companies wheedling out of their obligations than those who actually benefit from it.

I asked yesterday if you had proof (or even statistics) that the above statement is true.
    Do you?

I reckon this thread has run its course - there are too many people biting at nobjock's comments - and he is thriving on it.

I personally could not give a toss one way or the other if nobjocki does or doesn't buy travel insurance - that's his prerogative. To be honest, if he is as wealthy as he states he is, I just cannot see what the problem is by paying out a few quid for insurance before a trip or annually for that matter.

The sensible contributors on this thread will pay for travel insurance as do I, and as far as I am concerned, it is cheap at the price for the peace of mind alone.

Even if I was immensely rich - I would still be aggrieved at having to pay out a few hundred thousand dollars for medical bills (which can easily happen in the US) for the sake of stumping up a few quid prior to travelling.

It is not just the financial aspect to consider when something serious goes wrong on a trip. A colleague of mine dropped down dead on holiday and although the repatriation of the body was covered by the insurance, all of the formalities and arrangements were undertaken by the insurer’s medical teams/agents which removed a lot of the grief and hassle from his obviously already distressed widow.

If we were talking about forking out hundreds of pounds for travel insurance, then some may think there is a valid argument here, but my view is that good travel insurance is cheap at the price.

What is strange however, why someone who purports to be 'considerably rich' bothers with contributing to a website that is primarily for saving money - or maybe he just likes to peasant bash!

Being wealthy and saving money are not mutually exclusive - it's how to get wealthy in the first place.

And far from bringing up my wealth I was merely responding to a question about whether I had travel insurance.

As I repeatedly say in just about every post travel insurance is a choice people should make if they require peace of mind - I don't.

People should also read the small print very carefully - you'd be surprised just how many get-out clauses there are in many policies.

These are just my opinions - quite why people have got so upset and unnerved by them is beyond me.

But if they are that easily alarmed I can quite understand why they desperately feel the need for insurance.

Maybe suggesting that 'personal circumstances' allows the puchase of travel insurance as an option - rather than necessity would be more acceptable to others rather than bragging about ones apparent wealth. Some people will certainly deem that posting links to videos of a Harry Enfield character bragging about his wealth as a bit childish - but judging by some of your previous patronising comments on here, perhaps many have come to the conclusion that you have similar traits to Stan Herbert.

There will likely be many wealthy posters on these threads 'Who are considerably richer that yow', but rather than brag about it, they offer sensible advice to others without the need to promote their bank balance.
