To everyone rushing to judge the OP, it should be pointed out that the OP did not claim the supermarket was at fault.
From what she's said, she merely wants to let them know about a possible issue with their sign placement. As none of us have actually gone and seen where the sign is placed, we should equally not judge whether there is an issue with its placement.0 -

In the scenario described, they do tend to be at that height. If you put them too high then the driver will be distracted from watching for the purpose of the signs - the pedestrians! These things are risk assessed before they are put into place.Gone ... or have I?0 -
The point about general positioning is a good one. Write to head office (letters to stores are usually binned), explaining what happened and suggesting they move the sign.

The store has a duty of care to people coming on their land and if they have positioned a sign in such a way that it is a danger to people leaving the store then there is possibly a good case to be made that they are breaching that duty.
I seem to remember that the minimum height on a public highway is 2.1 mtrs and whilst this is private land they should still take note.
I would write to the manager and explain that owing to the poor positioning that you bumped your head. If he/she has any sense they will reposition it, as if it happens again after your warning they wont have much defence in court if someone does hurt themselves seriously"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

There's a road signpost near me that used to just have one sign on it for the junction ahead, but they moved it down the posts not that long ago to add another sign on top of it. I'm 6 feet tall, and if I'm wearing my safety boots for work, probably 6 feet 1 inch tall, and the bottom edge of this direction sign is now no more than half an inch from the top of my head.0

You should write to the manager as it is hazardous and you could save someone else from injury.
Incidentally, geordieracer, dmg24 and that other prat somethingcorporate are all on my ignore list. I tell you this because they are very, very sad and lonely and all they do with their time is wind up others. Me, I can't understand it but that is life.0 -
How have I wound anyone up? OP asked a question and got a response, just because it wasn't the one they wanted doesn't make me a WUM or a troll.
You're like one of those petulant OPs that come thinking the answer they will get is the one they already had in their head (and noone would disagree) and then have a huff when the answers they get aren't what they expected.
Edit: evidently the only thing you don't understand is why someone has a different opinion to you.Thinking critically since 1996....0
