With the money you can get a much better laptop than that old Advent rubbish AND buy an external blu-ray player.

I phoned customer services Monday for an update and was told an email will be sent again to the person in investigations ( i wont put his full name on here yet).
Had no call back so I phoned customer services again yesterday at 5pm. I was given a voucher code and they also told me the amount ,which was like for like.
I went to a pc world today at 5pm ish. Looked at a load of laptops with my son and spoke to a advisor and finally came to a conclusion on which one.
Got to the till to be told that the code wasn't right and needed letters as well as numbers.
Two of the pc world got onto the case asking me all the questions from when it got picked up, to what department and documents and case code ect.....Finally they got in touch with one of the many departments Dixions group as, asking questions and getting back to me and so on, eventually i was asked to phone the guy in investigations tomorrow and was given a straight to his department number which i couldn't have before.
I was driving home when i had a call from from a department of Dixons group asking which store had phoned them and that they was contacting that store as this store be able to access the code ect... so i went back to store and the tech guy was on the phone to the same guy who phoned me and the back and forth started again with pc world guy saying that the guy on the phoned didn't know what he was doing, i was asked to hang around for 15 mins, so he could read notes. Finally i was told that the code i was given was right but not a voucher code ref, but only an authorisation code ???????. Left store gone 7.30pm
I still got to phone the guy at investigations as no one can access my file, other than him, this so i can have a voucher code.
I still don't think it will be resolved tomorrow or i'll even get through to this guy.
As for the last post. The last laptop was bought on the spec mentioned and was recommended by shop, with me not knowing advent was there own brand. Yeah, you'll get a much better processor now, but just look for the cheapest blu-ray, then screen size of 17" and then 4gb ram. Ohhh yeah, i'll buy a external blu-ray from pc world at over £150.....not!

    Sounds like a real mess.

Do you know how much the voucher/code is worth, as looking at it, it needs to be at least £700. I took a look around the net and, it is impossible to get a blu-ray laptop from the Dixons group for less than £700 at the moment.

If it is a voucher for £700 or a code for goods upto the value of £700, then an external blu-ray, could be something to consider as of course it can be connected to most modern day PC's/Laptop, plus there would still be a DVD RW in the laptop itself. £550 for laptop + £150 external drive.
  • If I was OP, I would also ask for a free copy of MS Word as well, that has a grammar checker and may help them to string a coherent story together.
  • Sorry if my grammar isn't up to your standard Mr nobits.
The computer I'm using hasn't got spellchecker and as this annoying habit of missing keys when typing. Also I didn't read through any of my statements, to check if they were making sense. So I’m very sorry to all who had a hard time putting it all together and look forward to replies from people who aren’t just wanting to mock others shortfalls.

    Irony alert!
  • giz1972 didn't post on here for a lesson in spelling and punctuation,he came on here for some advice.Perhaps one or two of you would do well to remember this.
None of us are perfect,I am sure giz1872 would probably know more about other subjects than yourselves but wouldn't dream of criticizing you.
By the way is it criticising or criticizing ,no doubt somebody will tell me.

If your going to correct people, try to do it properly. I'm still not happy with it. It's a little 'wordy' and needs moving around but that will do.....

Surely, "If I were the OP...."
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
    Now 20% cooler

Yes... I swore I edited that. Damn phone. Ironically my laptops away on a pc world repair so I'm using my phone which isn't ideal for editing text especially when auto correct changes a word back like that!
