I tried this at the weekend and unfortuntely not the miracle i was hoping for. Hair is slightly straighter but still have to do it every day. It does take such a long time doesnt it?
  • I've used Han who is located at Raynes Park to do Yuko many times now. The results are excellent. I'd previously got it done at Harrods and I can honestly say there's no difference in the results, just a big difference in the cost! Definitely worth it for anyone who struggles with frizzy hair or just wants straight hair - it actually improves your hair's condition. My hair is silty, straight and so easy to manage. I'd highly recommend Han.

His website is treatyour hair or you'll be able to find him on Gumtree under hair straightening.

I think they stopped making it a few years ago. I bought one when they were reduced to clear about 2 or 3 years ago.

 Thanks jennie - just seen how old this thread is (DS, curlytop, is gutted!).

Boots do/did sell an at-home straightening treatment until very recently - I bought one maybe 3 months ago. I've been looking again in the last few weeks and can't find it, however. But it was the same one as is mentioned here.

Have you tried eBay? Might be a few on there.
  • I know this is an old thread but I have just found the best brazilian hair straightening kit ever! It is even better than the £400 salon treatment I had last year, an it only costs £25. Google "Brazilian Hair Straightening Kits" and it is the top result.

I don't recommend this type of straightening treatment, it has harmful chemicals that can severely damage the hair, that's why I prefer the flat iron which is safer and cause less damage, I use a good one, it's the Karmin G3 Salon Pro that has tourmaline ceramic plates which leaves the hair soft, shiny, healthy and very straight. :D :j

Whooo! Reawoken thread from the dead ;)

I disagree re the damage, any heat is damaging for hair (not just the one your advertising ;)) The reason that heated tools are damaging is because they cause the moisture and natural oils in the strands to become evaporated out, this means hair is instantly weaker and as its dried out the proteins which keep hair strong also dry out and are too damaged to be repaired (hair is dead once it leaves the root- you damage it and its not like skin, it cannot recover itself.) As a result of simple every day things like brushing or even touching hair, because hair is more fragile it ends up being damaged very easily. Combine that with repeated use of heated styling tools and you see why heat of any type is so damaging, whatever the type. Yes some are worse then others but they are all bad for hair.

I can't say if chemicals are any better and I'd suggest they are just as bad but heated tools of any type wont do your hair any favors, it then becomes a case of damage limitation where you need to apply products in ever increasing amounts to keep your hair happy (or just cut it off and start again!)
