So how much was the red licence? I keep thinking 7/6d, but maybe that was marriage lines?

Petrol coupons, had some of them, was that 1970 or 71?

Where were you when the power engineers strikes were causing power cuts, were you able to find a boozer that didn't have electric beer pumps?

Good old days, eh. Much more scary these days when we have t'interweb, thingy.

I got coupons with the 1st car I bought, I thought it was '72, anyway the coupons lasted longer than the rotten minivan:rotfl:
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Fuel shortages and coupons would have been 73/74 as I was in Norfolk at the time. Good old fashioned pubs with proper beer engines and candles. Still had to work though. Pen, paper and a torch still worked unlike computers today. Most things we did was generator supplied anyway, no skiving even at night.

My employers made it compulsory to have a photo card licence, I think there was a similar ruling for the Met Police.

Ahhh, this might explain things, he's a recently retired cop. I was sure I was right but there was no telling him, he's (very!) stubborn so didn't want to argue too much in case I was in the wrong, but thanks everyone, that's great news!
