Anyone doing a Macmillan Coffee Morning?

We have got ours at work tomorrow and I have just put a gingerbread traybake in the oven (at least that's what I am hoping it will turn into!!)

It's my mums recipe and everyone at work has had it before (made by mum) and loved it... I am a bit scared because that is a lot to live up to!

Why do parents go on holiday at the exact time you want them to make cakes that you can pretend are yours! :p

    Mortgage-free Glee!
We are having one on fri at our church - I have got all the excellent bakers within my congregation to bring cakes along - sorted!!
  • I always make cakes for the McMillan coffee morning every, and this year I wanted to do something a little different.

Was thinking of doing pink fairy cakes (I know it's not just for breast cancer, but I like the idea)....and don't know whether to do them as bufferfly cakes, or ice them with a little smartie on top (although I wasn't sure if this would look too risque)....

    Any other ideas greatly appreciated...

Anyone else making cakes/doing a coffee morning for McMillan?

    Hello,

Oh I think you should take the risque (sp) route. If anyone says anything you can arch an eyebrow and say "Its amazing what some people see in things!"
    :D

I am in Scotland and I haven't seen anything about the Macmillan coffee mornings, so I haven't been able to get involved. I like baking and I am an at home Mum to three, two in school, so I could have done something at least.

Once I made a rather risque cake for a friend, but we were a liberal bunch. I think anything you do is for a good cause, and should be applauded.:T

  • Go for the risque option! Let's face it, cancer is nothing to laugh about so why not bring a bit of humour into it?!

I did the coffee morning last year, was just going to be a few cakes that i took into work to raise a bit of money, on the day my desk was covered in cakes, biscuits etc that people had bought in! We raised £260!!

We also bought sachets of hot chocolate, cappuchino (sp!) etc and sold them as well, to go with the cakes! The work canteen donated disposible cups and lent us the hot water flask things.

i made a Lemon drizzle tray bake (mary berry recipe - cant find now but sure it'll be there if you google it!) I did it in a rectangle roasting tin and got loads out of it! It was seriously yummy!

Good on you for doing it, it;s a brilliant cause. Let us know how you get on.

Hope you raise a lot of money!

Not pink, entirely, but what about raspberry/red fruit muffins?

Was looking on Google Images and found the "Citrus Pinky" biscuit things (http://www.onlinekitchen.com.au/index.asp?pgid=44), they look quite nice and continue the pink theme.

Hope this helps, I am sure your efforts will be appreciated :)
