Hi all - can I accept cash from others?

Mr EL has offered £1 towards the £4 I already have to get me off the starting block.

I suppose if your hubby dropped the pound somewhere and you happened to find it then that would be ok ;)

    Hi everyone,

Home pc working but internet access down so am grabbing 5 mins on the slowest pc in the world at my local childrens centre (free ball pool).

Anyway, I haven't done anything fantastic but am still trying. I've sold a free record on ebay for 2 squid but bought something from charity shop for 5 but can't update signature coz of slowness of this pc (v. frustrating).

Will post again as soon as I can.

    Hi Guys
Well done for all your efforts. Nothing happening for me today although I have sold a free bottle of oil of ulay at work today for £4 but haven't got money yet so will include that when I get it. Have a busy weekend coming up with a jumble sale tomorrow (allowed in for early preview!!) and then car boot sale on sunday - everything I have for sale has been given to me or I have picked up for free so all profit.
Will check in over weekend - hope everyone has a profitable one.
Emily I hope you get your result on the matched betting. Have you had a tip? We are Wycombe fans (live in Aylesbury) so would like them to win but will accept draw if you're in for some good profit. How much will you win if you get the right result???

Ok... quick update from me! I bought 10 items for £3.15 yesterday and listed them on ebay (10 day listing to finish on a sunday evening) and have just checked them.... wait for it....... grand total of 0 bids and 0 watchers!! :rotfl: Only nine days of hoping to go!!

Tomorrow i'm off to a much bigger town that's supposed to be really good for charity shops (according to my mum who hasn't been there in 10 years! ) so hopefully I will have some luck with some of my remaining £10 :D

I haven't had any tip, I just read through the matched betting thread and I found that betting on a draw in the game had similar odds on Tote and Betfair so I bet on that. Either way I end up about £23 up (I think, if I have done it right  ).

    Hi Emily,

I've lurked round a few of your threads as they're always entertaining. Hope you do well with the matched betting, I've read it but don't get it at all to be honest!!

I didn't get it at first to be honest but then it suddenly clicked. If I have done it ok then I will post some 'Emily proof' instructions on here. :D

That would be great! I've been reading the Newbie thread but its like a foreign language to me. I know you dont know how you've done yet but are you supposed to register with 2 different betting sites for the opposing bets? And do you have to deposit some of your own money to start with, ie to get the free bet? Do you then do next bet with your winnings (that you hopefully get from your first bet?) Sorry for all questions, I'm very excited about getting your instructions - please make them words of one syllable!

Ok, here's what I've done so far with the matched betting:

Firstly I registered with Totesport and deposited £25 (to get their free £25 offer for new betters).

I then registered with Betfair and deposited £65.

I did Betfair through Greasypalm and got £15 cashback and Totesport through R Points and got another £15 cashback.

Basically you register with different betting sites to get the free bets. You then always use Betfair to place the lay bet. You need to search through the odds on the betting website you have registered with (Totesport) and compare these with the lay bets on Betfair. They need to be as close as possible to minimise the amount of your 'free bet' you lose.

Therefore, I found odds of Wycombe and Torquay drawing at 3.4 and I found the odds of betting against a draw on Betfair (otherwise known as the lay bet) at 3.6 - I put all of this into the spreadsheet (http://www.apqs69.dsl.pipex.com/matcher.xls) and it said that if I place a free bet on Totesport of £25 on the draw, then I would need to bet £23.81 on Betfair as the lay bet.

If the match does end up in a draw then I will lose £61.90 on Betfair plus the original amount of the bet. But I will win £85.00 on Totesport plus I will get my free bet.

If they don't draw then I will win £23.81 profit on Betfair plus I should be able to withdraw my freebet on Totesport so in the end I should be up at least £23.81.

I think that is how it works anyway, I will post again later tonight when the match has finished and let you know what money I have got where  .

I hope these instructions are a little clearer - unless of course I have got this all wrong
