Its a secret I'm afraid - I don't come up with good ideas very often and I think this might be one so I'm hanging on to it with both hands!!

Well done on your matched betting soscrooge - you're doing really well but you sounded down about it in an earlier post. How many hours would you have to work to earn the money that you've managed to make? I've worked out that you can make 40-50 an hour with matched betting - 7 times my hourly rate!! Not bad for 'a bit on the side'!!

I went out and bought a load of Clarins from a shop closing down and listed it on ebay tonight.

Within half an hour all the listings had been removed and I've had an email from ebay to say I'm going to be suspended for trademark abuse. It seems it's ok for thousands of others to be selling Clarins, but not for me, even though I have a receipt to prove it's genuine. And I have no comeback.

Am feeling a bit miserable now - sorry to be on a downer when everyone else is doing so well!
  • ohhh thats awful freebird

I've had the same tonight freebird. I bought a Louis Vuitton bag on ebay - it didn't have many bids and I thought I'd grabbed myself a bargain but when I listed it tonight it was also removed. I've posted on the ebay board - heres the link http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=3461756#post3461756 Apparently it means that someones reported them to ebay as being fake goods!! My listing was only up for about 10 mins!!

Sorry to be nosy, but could you tell me what you did for matched betting? i.e how much did you have to start with, which accounts you opened, did you lose any money, etc?

    Maybe you could PM me?

    Cheers

I just did as I was told on the Matched Betting threads down in the Gambling Introductory Offers section. Started off with just over £50, enough to do the "put £10 in, get a free £20 bet" on Coral (code TALKSPORT) & laid at Betfair. Betfair are doing a free £25 bet offer right now (code FTB125) & you can still get the free £20 bet at Coral or another one for a £50 bet, so you actually need less money than I did to get started, ya lucky so'n'sos. Start off doing the "stake returned" sites, where you get most of the value of your free stake back, in order to build up your money.

Go and look on the "sticky" threads for newbies on the Gambling Introductory Offers bit, they'll tell you all you need to know. Confused? You will be! But you'll get there in the end :D

I wouldn't mind, but there are thousands of identical items to mine up.....but that's all ok.....and I now have almost £200 of stuff I don't know what to do with. With a closed down shop, I can't even take it back.

Why do ebay pick on innocent people when there are blatant scammers (look at some of the Chinese listings) - recently someone in China copied mine and other listings, priced them really cheap and despite lots of emails to ebay, the listings stayed up and the scammer got away with someone's money.

Can you tell I'm feeling unfairly picked on and frustrated cos I can't even defend myself against the corporate beast of ebay?

I did - they just won't respond with anything other than a standard email which answers nothing.

I think I'll just have to accept that I now have enough Clarins to last me 20 years!! :D
  • i know how you feel
