I don't understand. I bought a Louis Vuitton handbag on ebay to sell on for a profit and I've just received the following alert - is there anyway I can still list it?
Thank you for your recent auction-style listing on eBay. Unfortunately, we removed the following item(s):
170049596706 - ***L@@K***LOUIS VUITTON HANDBAG**NO RESERVE**
The following information may help explain the reason for your listing(s) removal:
Misuse of brand names, trade marks, and logos is both illegal and against eBay policy. This includes inappropriate comparisons to a branded item, selling counterfeit or replica items, and keyword spamming.
eBay prohibits members from denying knowledge of, or responsibility for, the authenticity or legality of the items they offer. Members should take steps to ensure that their items are authentic before listing them on eBay. If a member cannot verify the authenticity of an item, it is not permitted on eBay.

Someone reported it as a fake.0

I wouldn't risk re-listing it because who ever reported you the first time will report you again.
Remember 99.9% of LV goods for sale on Ebay are fake so they will act rapidly - especially after their exposure on watchdog.Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

Thanks for your replies.
It was only up for 10 mins - who would do that and why? My photos aren't that great but you wouldn't be able to tell if its fake or real just by looking at the photos.JUST DO IT ONE BRICK AT A TIMEPROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTSWeekly Budget: groceries£50/petrol£50/Unnecesary£15DEBT PAID = 58% (£4,212/£8216):T0 -
Read this: ***BBC Watchdog to feature eBay***.
".....The VeRO programme includes over 17,000 brand owners such as Timberland, Adidas, Christian Dior, Chloe and Prada.
As a consequence, we remove millions of listings each year preventing counterfeit sales as well as taking action against fraudulent sellers by cancelling infringing listings, and restricting/suspending accounts...."

There are some pretty obvious pointers to indicate a fake handbag. My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I heard if you put the word 'authentic' in the listing then they won't pull it, as they are then covered and it becomes your responsibility. Not sure how true it is......:j30/7/10:j

They'll still pull it if you get reported and they suspect it might be fake.durham_girl wrote:I heard if you put the word 'authentic' in the listing then they won't pull it, as they are then covered and it becomes your responsibility. Not sure how true it is......
The OP's bag may have been a type not actually made by Louis Vuitton, which would be a dead giveaway in the photo(s), or it may be that it really was impossible to tell but it got pulled anyway just in case.
It sometimes seems to be down to random chance which possibly-fake items are pulled and which are left alone, but it's a fairly safe bet that a lot more will be getting pulled since the recent BBC Watchdog piece on fake eBay items.
I've had a listing removed for a "Louis Vuitton" bag of uncertain provenance in the past, while several other similar listings were left untouched.
Jpet77, I'm interested that you said you bought it on eBay to resell at a profit - what was it about your listing that led you to believe that it would sell for more than the price you paid for it? It could be that your improvements were what attracted the attention of whoever reported you. Your item number doesn't return any results on eBay now.
I wouldn't risk relisting if I were you. If you were to click "relist" and submit the same listing within the next few days, you'd be very likely to be reported and have your account suspended. If you were to wait a while, make a whole different listing and omit the words "Louis Vuitton" from the title, you'd have a better chance of getting away with it, but I still wouldn't chance it.0 -

I've never come across that before. It seems highly unlikely though as ebay tend to side with their VERO members and pull everything.
This bag is unlikely to have been pulled after a member report, it was too quick. Ebay must have done what they said they would and use keyword alerts for some categories, although that still doesn't explain why yours was pulled and not others.
The VERO scheme does not only get listings pulled due to being fakes, it can also have listings pulled if you are not a registered seller of the product. I would not relist as you are probably already being watched and you only get a couple of warnings before you get suspended.

Maybe eBay are having a big clampdown. I got this messge regarding a top I'd bid on
I assume the seller's offence was using "Quant" to describe the style of a top which was not actually a Quant top. Please be aware that the following auction-style listing:
Item Number - 200045405932
Item Title - 60's 60's MOD QUANT TWIGGY top uk 12-14/40-42/8-10
has been removed by eBay for breaching of one or more of our policies. Any offers or bids placed on this auction-style listing are now null and void. Because the listing was ended early, you as a bidder are not required to complete the transaction. Since this is a breach of our listing policies, the seller is free to relist the item in the proper format. Should you wish to do so, you are free to bid on the item again if it is relisted.
Please review eBay's Listing Policies and User Agreement at the following locations:

We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

I have listed a pair of shoes which I had previously bought from a US seller. They are X (removed) brand and when I made the listing a warning came up that if I clicked submit then I was declaring that they were genuine. I did not use the words genuine or authentic in my title or listing.
I have no real proof that they are genuine X (removed), only that I had bought several different kinds of the same brand from the seller and had no doubts about them. I wouldn't imagine that they are the sort of brand that are faked on any kind of grand level as they are fairly inexpensive to buy anyway.
Should I change my listing to include the word genuine? I'd rather not as it would mean losing other important search words from the title. Is there a chance it might get pulled too? I can't imagine anyone reporting it. Or am I just stressing over nuffin'?0
