I think it might help me and possibly some others if the regulars on this thread or even the newbies to list some of the things they've done to raise their money... I have started to read the thread everyday but the first 80 pages I haven't managed to get through!
I'll start...
Selling books on Amazon
Selling on eBay
Used my free £5 on closer bingo (although lost that!)0 -
Hello again, since starting on Friday night I'm up to £7.52 which is good. Going to put a really nice pair of silver earings that I brought with tesco vouchers that were about to expire for a Christmas present but found out that my sister already has the same pair on ebay tonight so that they finish on Saturday. They were free so hopefully they'll make a bit of money, got a few other things to list but will wait for the next lower fee day which should be soonish. Also have plans to buy things to sell on ebay next week once I get some more cash, been checking similar items out on ebay and generally all green so thats good.
Also going to try making some things to sell, its worth a go and if they don't I'll use them for Christmas presents, already have most of the things I'll need.
Think I may get a bit stuck raising the bigger funds but will worry about that later, as I said to DH yesterday even if I make £100 thats still £100 for nothing woo hoo, but I'm going to try and see how far I can go. Trying to understand MB but also have a bit of an addictive personality so haven't decided if I'll do it or not yet.
Right its 11am so I best get going. Not been too well and going for blood tests tomorrow to find out if anything is up.

Here are some good competitions I've entered... I'm sure most of these if won would sell well http://www.penguin.co.uk/static/cs/uk/0/competition/index.html
Oooo found this competition too... we could all do with £17,000 worth of stuff to sell on eBay! http://www.thebiographychannel.co.uk/competition.htm0 -
What do you think of these points:
- Should you always start low to keep listing fees low? I generally start at £1 on everything and haven't sold for £1 yet - always gone for more. But is this what everyone else does?
- Also, do you always post out as soon as Paypal payment is made? My recent experience makes me want to wait 24-48 hours now if the item is £10 or more.
- I have started to only list items Sunday evening, and any stray others I have to list I will list Tuesday night. Are these the best nights?
- I only list for 7 days as personally I am put off when an item is 10 days, just too eager I suppose...
- I rarely list with Buy It Now but are there some items where it's really worth it?
- I always pack the title with as many keywords as poss - I am always surprised when people don't think this is important! I saw a DVD yesterday listed as '28 Days Later DVD' - so crucial to use up all those characters in the title!
Thanks all! Trying to learn as much as poss - been on Ebay for years but am learning alot in this challenge xMFW #185

I normally list at 99p and always try to ensure the listing ends around 8pm (which I forgot last time) and runs over a weekend.
Have only ever succesfully used buy it now on a post (which was for a set of car lights on behalf of my brother)
as you said it makes sense to use up all of the title, i normally find i havent got enough room left for every thing I want to get in!!!
just on my way out to post the items I sold this weekend, now wondering if I should wait a while too
sounds like your the same as me, Ive learnt so much about ebay this week that I never knew even after using it so long!finally debt free and want to keep it that way!!0 -

If you list at 99p instead it will cost you 15p basic listing fees rather than 20p listing fees for a £1 start. However, I always list at the minimum price i will accept and don't risk a low start in case item goes on opening bid.EagerLearner wrote:- Also, do you always post out as soon as Paypal payment is made? What do you think of these points:
- Should you always start low to keep listing fees low? I generally start at £1 on everything and haven't sold for £1 yet - always gone for more. But is this what everyone else does? Personally I always start at 99p as the listing fee is low, if it's going to sell well it usually goes up pretty quick! 99p start will get people bidding on it, whereas a £10 start would put people off, well it does me.
- Also, do you always post out as soon as Paypal payment is made? My recent experience makes me want to wait 24-48 hours now if the item is £10 or more. After reading on here what's happened to people recently I will certainly be waiting a few days before sending out the item, even as long as it takes for the money to reach my bank.
- I have started to only list items Sunday evening, and any stray others I have to list I will list Tuesday night. Are these the best nights? I always list on a Saturday or Sunday for 7 days, or on a Thursday for 10 days. I find most people are on eBay at the weekends and are more likely to be around for a last minute bid... otherwise make sure it ends in the evening.
- I only list for 7 days as personally I am put off when an item is 10 days, just too eager I suppose... It depends when I find stuff as to when and how long I list things for, I did list something for 1 day once, it's was very popular and I probably made more on it than I would if it had been down with the 7/10 day listed items!
- I rarely list with Buy It Now but are there some items where it's really worth it? It's always difficult to get the right price with these, I tend to avoid them altogether, plus I like to see my item going up in price...
- I always pack the title with as many keywords as poss - I am always surprised when people don't think this is important! I saw a DVD yesterday listed as '28 Days Later DVD' - so crucial to use up all those characters in the title! Yeah definately make use of all key words.. although sometimes it is difficult to describe things properly.
