Veggie snacks

This is a good idea for a snack but if a vegetarian were to eat them I would wonder what was wrong......if they are a vegetarian of conscience of course.Scotch eggs, but made with sage and onion stuffing instead of the sausage meat.
The absolute worst cruelty out of all the animals we have for food/meat is the cruelty given to battery hens.
Please please if you are to have scotch eggs, would you buy them made with free ranged eggs at least??0 -

We would never even dream of getting anything other than proper free-range eggs, either from our friends, who have chickens, or from an approved farm. So I canot see anything wrong with a vegetarian eating veggie scotch eggs, after all eggs are not baby chickens until they've been fertilised.0 -

You can't actually buy vegetarian Scotch eggs (to the best of my knowledge), so if you wanted to use my suggestion, you would have to make them yourself, in which case you can choose any type of egg you want.0 -
If they are arriving late then I'd check if they will have had dinner first before serving up a huge spread. But for a snack how about Tortilla's which are lovely either hot or cold

Or you could do pizza or pitta breads toasted & crudites with dips.
As for other meals there are loads of lovely veggie pasta dishes or you could do a veggie risotto (BBC good food has loads of ideas).0 -

They are available, just not everywhere, mostly larger supermarkets.
Clw1 - now you've made me hungry. Off to the kitchen for a snack. yummy. If having different experiences, thoughts and ideas to you, or having an opinion that you don't understand, makes me a troll, then I am proud to be a 100% crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living Troll. :hello:0 -
Coming from a veggie myself whose mother-in-law cooks very traditionally, I wouldn't recommend being too obsessive about this and buying quorn/linda mcartney substitutes. If you don't usually cook with quorn, don't worry about it now.
DO think simple!
Light lunch/ snack:
-Jacket potatoes, beans, cheese, coleslaw
-Go mad with dips! carrot, cucumber and celery sticks, with crisps or nuts
-Don't forget salads (you can make these fancy with things like olives and shop dressing)
Main cooked meals:
-Vegetable lasagne (basic veg instead of meat i.e. carrot, aubergine)
-Quiche (Such useful dish! mushroom, tomato, cheese+ onion. Serve with new potatoes/ oven chips/ boiled veg)
-Pasta (sauces: cheese+mushroom, tomato+basil with salads)
-Risotto
-Noodles+stir fry veg with nuts
Hope all that helps.Wins: my987wardrobe dress, Look show tickets! Seamus Heaney poetry collection, 9bar sample pack, palmolive large bottle, La Dolche Vita show tickets, Dorset cereals, 2xTim Minchin tickets, etsy necklace0
