He was also in receipt of Motorbility allowance but instead of a decent cheap car he had a new VW Golf every few years.Iv'e never quite grasped why he should have a brand spanking new car every few years, whats wrong with a decent 2nd hand car?,whats wrong with keeping a car for 10 year or more, why a VW Golf too, high end manufacturers.
Further more my sister has a disabled daughter, they have a nice new Citroen C4 Picasso on motorbility, all tax paid etc , I don't be grudge them it but 3 months after they received it they went out and bought a 2nd one for themselves........
Sorry but your a bit mis-guided there are much better ways to support people with disabilities rather than throwing money at them, proper targeting is the key...
Having said that on the other hand I also know a young lad who even though he is out growing his current wheel chair he can't get another one for love nor money.....
i agree - the girl in the advert for motability is driving a BMW!!!! :eek:Moved into dream house - 17/08/12Savings - £600Xmas 2013 - £43Credit card - £2741 :eek:0 -
Balls: "The public finances are around £12bn healthier than forecast at the time of the budget. The coalition government wants to use the extra money to pay down the deficit faster.''
Am I getting cleverer or is everyone else getting more stupid?
Is this really someone that has designs to run the country? Someone that a good number of people actually think would make a good leader?
There isn't any extra money. Just less borrowing. He really is an idiot.

What is wrong with second hand cars?0 -
Just to point out, not all DLA claimants will receive the mobility component and the mobility component at the higher rate, is what is needed to receive a mobility car if you so wish to use it for that.
It is not a free car, you don't receive a mobility component AND a car but one or the other (as in you have to 'sign over' your mobility amount to pay for the car). For those receiving low rate mobility or any of the care components (3 levels for care), you will not be able to use it for a mobility car.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I must say I was quite pleased to hear the news but I do fear they will cut the wrong benefits. Jobseekers allowance is not the problem as the highest number of workless households are parents. The benefits for children are the problem but how to cut this without increasing child poverty? It's a difficult one."fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0

It seems benefits ae in for a battering. Will the government hit the rich as hard?
Hopefully the woman who lives down the street is given a wake up call. Her mother gets a car through the DLA. Yet its her thats drives it all day and everyday. Its even parked in her drive at night. Not only that but her son has just passed his test and him and his mates are in the thing most nights.
While i worked hard and saved hard to buy my own car.
Now tell me how that is fair?0 -

A vast amount of government expenditure goes in a miniscule time span to prop up an essential wheel of capitalism, which had been engaging in the capitalist dream of chasing big bucks by selling financial products that it still appears no-one really understands.
There is the additional debate about the government spending being excessive, which is only going to end up in political mud slinging. However the fact that pretty much the entire world ground to a halt & is experiencing exceptional problems appears to be not down to the spending of the UK government. Given this, the major issues around recession are, in essence down to private enterprise in cause, and the big bill is down to the private sector.
I tought many of these bail outs were now beginning to show a profit for the government.0 -

All the time that child poverty is defined as a percentage below average income, it can never be eradicated.0 -
Well....I hate chav phrases - but there certainly is one that comes to mind literally every time Bendix "shares his wisdom;)" with us - the one "What IS your problem?"...as every single post I ever noted from him is "having a go".
Do correct me if I'm wrong and he has ever given anyone helpful advice or expressed sympathy for one....:rotfl:
Ahhhh, my favourite bleeding heart stalker throwing their (ahem) wisdom around again. Nice one. I've said it to you before, if you don't like what I post, either ignore it or don't read it. It ain't rocket science.
This is a forum. I have as much right to express my views as anyone else. That you don't like them matters to me not one iota.0
