MAJOR FLIGHT SALE UNTIL THURSDAY. £10 E/W all-in to European Destinations

Update Monday 2 Oct: The £10 sale's been extended to midnight Thursday 5 Oct.

Budget airline Ryanair is offering a raft of European destinations from a raft of British airports for £10 each way including taxes & charges until midnight Thursday - very cheap indeed.

As always the problem with these things is actually finding the special offer flights, go direct to Ryanair and you'll pay more, yet read the explanation below and it'll explain how to use the free FlightChecker tool to speedily find the offer flights.

Which airports does it fly from?

These deals (it varies to where) are available from London Stansted, London Luton, East Midlands, Liverpool, Glasgow, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Blackpool, Aberdeen, Doncaster Sheffield, Inverness, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, Durham Tees Valley, Bristol, Humberside, London Gatwick, Newquay.

When?

You need to book before Thursday and at least 14 days ahead and flights must be between 9 Oct and 8 Feb 2007 with the following exclusions

20th Oct '06 - 06th Nov '06
20th Dec '06 - 09th Jan '07

Remember with Ryanair you pay to check baggage in, its £7 per item each way if you do it at the airport and £3.50 if you pre-book. So if possible take hand luggage only.

To where

Lots of destinations are included; Limoges, Gothenburg, Salzburg, Kerry, Poznan, Ancona, Carcassone, Oslo, Derry, Trieste, Malmo, Aarhus, Berlin, Parma, Girona, Perpignan, Bergerac, Krakow, Brindisi, Milan, Bologna, Newquay, Montpellier, Biarritz, Hamburg and more!

How to speedily find the specific flights

The FlightChecker is a special free, non-commercial tool on this site designed to find these special offer flights. Normally you enter in the maximum price you’re willing to pay; and the airports and date range and it finds the flights with you.

As that maximum price doesn’t include taxes and charges, for this promotion you should be looking for flights at UNDER £1. In fact the result you want are the flights costing £0.01. Once you've found them go to Ryanair to book and the total charge should be £10 including all costs (don’t book without checking this is correct in your case).

PS a quick note about the environment

I always do wrestle a touch when writing about cheap flights, as of course it isn’t the best thing for the environment. The aim is to show people how to find the flights or holidays they want more cheaply but not to encourage you to fly more often.

It’s worth having half a thought to this when you book. On of the list of things on my to do list is look at cheap ways to offset the environment impact of flying.

For now it's worth looking at Climate Care; it'll work out how much it would cost to offset carbon emissions and gives you the option of buying offsets.

I found several £20 return deals from EMA, that's including taxes.
  • Just booked my MIL a flight to Malta to see family for £20 and she is over the moon.

  • Ryan charges a 7.00 'administration charge' for taking a baby under age 23 months on your lap - so that in the case of sub-1-quid-priced seats, it is financially preferable in the sale to book an adult or older-kids' seat for the infant... is that permitted?
  • I have just booked to go rome but it was 45.00 in total as you now have to pay for a bag you are checking in
  • Having just done this, I should point out that you also get charged £7 (£3.50 each way) per each checked-in bag per person. And as you can no longer take liquids through security, the option of just taking hand-luggage isn't really possible (well, not for those of us who need to take contact lens fluid etc). and then there's the charges for using a credit or debit card...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining (having just booked 4 days in Italy, tee hee), but be aware of the hold bag charge before you start to book - I got halfway through and had to have a rapid conversation with my OH about how many bags we wanted to take!

Why would you want to do this? Children have to pay taxes, infants don't!!!!

1 Adult and 1 infant is cheaper than 1 adult and 1 child.
