After my LBM I abstained from using my CC's for about 2 months. I now use a cashback one for pretty much everything, making sure every time I spend I transfer the equivalent cash into my savings account (I usually round up, eg if I spend £20.36 in the supermarket I put £21 into my savings). With this rounding and interest alone I have saved over £50 in 3 months, it will be interesting to see what I save during the year including cashback.
I also have £1,740 on a 0% CC, I do not spend on this card and will pay if off by the time the 0% ends.Saving for an early retirement!0 -
Havent use mine since embarking on an IVA about 14 months ago. Had to cut them up, it was a bit scary having no lifeline in an emergency but we've coped. I like using cash now and we can only spend what we can afford!;)Do what you love :happyhear0

I used mine at the weekend cos I thought I had no money left in my bank account (get paid on Friday), then realised I had £20 still left! Doh! What I do at the end of the month though is transfer anything in my account up to the o/d limit onto the CC - it's normally only a few pound & pence that I can't draw out the machine, but hey, it's something!Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

I only use mine for paying anything over £100 as you get your money back if things go wrong. This means that I don't use it much...lol" The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Not had one with any available credit since about March/April last year. So initially it was an enforced abstenance.
All paid now anyway and accounts shut down.
I am tempted to get a couple and use them for stoozing, but not sure I could trust myself not to start all over again.
I use cash only, and like it. I can physically see what I have/don't have. and paying in notes makes you realise much more what you are spending.0 -
I haven't used my credit cards since Nov 2004 when I had my semi LBM, chopped them up and got help from a fee charging DMC!!!! If I need to pay for something I use my debit Electron or ask Daddy to borrow his cc ie for my moneyclaim online.
It does seem silly a 27 yr old asking daddy for his credit card number!!! hahahaMade it - 15 years married!! Finally!! xx:beer:0 -
about a month ago when i needed new clothes/shoes for my interview/starting work and had no money. my problem was that since my lbm i have had no 'great' increase in cash, it's been a very slow prcess to getting more money and my pay at the end of october will be my first time to start making an assault on my debt. at times i've still found myself in need and having no money. the good news is that it has all been needs rather than wants.0

Last night in Sainsburys. I put all the weekly shopping on my credit card, then pay it off in full each month, to minimise the interest on my overdraft. When my overdraft is cleared in a few weeks, I'll still carry on using my credit card, to maximise the interest on the cash in my bank account
I feel quite 'safe' using my credit card - since my LBM I'm never tempted to overspend anymore, and have no intention of ever carrying a credit card balance & paying them interest again.0 -
