Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Thurs 9th September 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
[*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just fine

Morning all,

Good Morning to Ruby and all that follow:T
I have had a busy few days with hospital appointments. Yesterday it was the kids dad birthday so we went out for lunch at Ike0 which tasted yum and was very MS:eek:

We didnt plan it that way but in the morning we went to Bletchley Park the place where they deciphered the codes that shortened WW2. Its a really interesting place such as Home Front, Post Office, Computer Museum, Churchill Collection as well as the code breaking equipment such as Colossus and Enigma. Now kids dad is a computer geek but im not and I found it really interesting.

There was a small exhibition dedicated to the Racing Pigeons that flew with messages and codes and it really brought a lump to my throat. I did not know that handling pigeons was a reserved occupation and the pigeons bravery was humbling. I thought of those posters (Bargain Bird and Taplady ?) whose OH keep pigeons and picked up a pigeon shaped leaflet which tells you how to care for a homing pigeon if one is found!, Bletchley Park is fully accessible for disabled people and the staff/volunteers were outstanding:T We spent a happy half hour collecting conkers so really its a sign of autumn. Weather was glorious.

So still doing the washing:eek: My WM broke again on Tuesday but kids dad managed to mend it again but warned me its very precarious so I keep hoping it will keep going as Im going to dye some sheets before my new one is delivered. Cleaner today and house is reasonable. DD has sorted her bedroom in readiness for a new chest of drawers (so miracles do happen):T

Hope you all have a productive and happy day.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Morning everyone Hugs and thoughts to everyone who needs them.
It's dull, dark and miserable here- looks like I'll be drying stuff inside today :(
I might not be at school today but I've got a massive list of stuff to get through, so I'll toddle off fairly soon and get on with it. The house is in CHAO status, so that will be my main focus.

    Have a good day everyone!

    Hya all,
Redruby thanks for starting the thread. I looked for it at 6:20 but got nowhere.
Bargainbird I hope the headache goes away soon.
Molly41 Bletchley park sounds fascinating. So glad you had a good day out. Good luck with the wm.
Sistercas I found the flylady list this summer and I am not up to speed with it yet, but I am finding it a great help.
Hester, I hope your shoulder is OK hoards of teenagers busily chatting do not think of safety, the management team need to think for them.
I excavated the airing cupboard yesterday so have a wash load on atm. The sun is shining here, long may it last:)
All meals from the freezer this week so far so good for ms. Today is different. We will have roast pork with veg from the garden. DD1 said she saw some pork on offer but didn't buy it because she didn't know what joint I buy and how I prepare it to get crispy crackling. So we are going to shop for a joint together and then we will cook it together. Light, crispy crackling is the order of the day - no pressure then;)
Ok, off I go. Hugs and spoons to all in need.
    Cheers m'dears x

    Morning all

Bright and looking promising today, got out to be quite a nice day yesterday hopefully more of the same today. Managed to get line of washing dry and another 2 small loads washed on line last night so will be dry later this morning.

Last night's dinner was lovely, stew and dumplings, mashed potato, carrots, broccolli and green beans. Tonight we're having roast chicken pieces, and green garden vegetable pie - (it's basically cauli and broccolli cheese with peas in it but you slice cooked potato and layer that over the top and sprinkle with cheese and bake in the oven.

Have all the normal jobs that my "days off" bring, washing, drying, ironing, housework .............etc. I do like my days off though especially now the boys are back to school, gives me a free reign to get cracking with the jobs without interruption. Will also spend some time today doing some baking, want to get some done as now all the sweet treats are gone - they're a greedy lot, boys have hallow legs I'm sure! We're away this weekend so need to be productive today and tomorrow otherwise I'll not be organised for next week - I hate starting the week in a mess - you just never seem to get straight.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Mooooooooooo rning All

Hope the Moo-ing has stopped Jackie G, my fridge did that but now you mention it I haven't heard it for a while. The house is never quiet enough to hear anything above the TV, music, DW, etc.!

Damp here today but could cheer up - the washing is on the airer, DW on, Chooks fed and let out so had just better get ready for work. Going to a friends for lunch which is a treat but we don't get long enough!

Hope the poorlies and those feeling down feel better soon. Take care XX

Morning all - don't know what I did yesterday but I pulled my back and OUCH. I spent 3 hrs flat on my back yesterday and then due to OH snoring last night ended up on the floor in my DS room - now my back is painful again. Have to take car in for service today (this will hurt financially!), but have decided that I'm going to look for a lockable cupboard (another one) for my DS bedroom as I'm fed up with him continually pulling his room apart every night (he's 6) but I have no other space to put his clothes in! Oh well. OS - have sausages & pumpkin for tea tonight.
    Have a great day.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • Moooo!

Its still going but not as bad. :D I won't be in it today as I am out most of the time, so it should stay nice and quiet tonight! Rain here.

I have physio this morning then a brake check on the car (they have a lifetime guarantee apparently, we'll see what else I "need" to get done and pay for to qualify for the guarantee - I know, cynical Sally!) then a trip to the Scout shop for Cubs jumpers for DD2 and his friend, then the sports shop....you get the idea! I may also treat myself to a baked potato somewhere too if I have time. OS well, the ironing is up to date, which is a miracle for me, the boys' beds got changed yesterday and their new duvets on and the old ones are dried and in the cupboard, so that's one off the winter prep checklist, packups are done, and I am about to have a cuppa. Have good days all of you, hugs to Mrs MH who sounds royally fed up, and anyone else in need.

Morning all, day off so going to do dishes, change the bed etc and relax this morning then pop into town this afternoon to get some bits for the bathroom. I plan to turn it into a more relaxing spa like space. It has white and blue tiles anyway so by carrying on the blue theme it will be very peaceful (rented so i can't do anything major!). Already got some boxes and candles (Primark £5.50 for the lot so very MSE).

Have good days all. Back later X
