Blind boxing is very common, at least in Japan.

I've got a friend who tends to buy a full container of the blind boxed figures to ensure he gets the whole set, then sells the rest on ebay and usually gets a decent amount back.

I really think blind boxing is partly aimed at spoilt children whose parents WILL buy them everything, but it's also aimed at the adult collector market because they're even more obsessive, and they don't get much more obsessive than adult lego collectors.

    ..that's quite sad of you!

Not sad my son loves these figures he is not a spoilt child and gets one as an occassional treat, these give him hours of amusement for £1.99.
  • each to their own in what they collect for themselves or their sons/grandsons.

However to the OP did you not realise when you bought the 7 that you didn't know what was in those packs? Surely you would have realised and as such it would make you think that the choice is random and as such you could get doubles.
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

I'm sorry if I came off implying your son is spoilt, because I wasn't aiming it at you (you did it the smart way). I was meaning the parents like my cousin, who, if her daughter wanted the whole set, would buy up the shop's stock to maximise her chances of getting them all.

Dont see a problem really, you chose to buy said lego sets, you could have bought some others

granted i could have bought some others. but i was only refering that the items were not disclosed on the packages and children were being ripped of by these methods of the lego company. you seem to have lots of spare money to throw away with your attitude .

    Who is "us" exactly?

    You?
US is the people out in this society that has to work hard for their cash and not being ripped off in life as some of you cant even spell WORK. EASY COME EASY GO SEEMS TO BE THE ATTITUDE BUT NOT IN MY BOOK. ESPECIALLY @ £1.99 A TIME ENOUGH SAID.
  • tbh the problem of doubles is not confined to the lego series you refer to ......think of any collector sets sold in a similar way and you get the problem of doubles.

the only solutions I can see are

    1) swop his doubles with his mates
    2) sell his doubles / buy the ones you need on ebay
    3) keep the doubles and play with them and thank his lucky stars that he has a grandparent who buys him toys?

I AGREE WITH YOU But what iwas saying was i felt the children were being ripped off as there is nothing on the packages saying whats inside of them. the cost of each item is £1.99 each a full set of the series is £31. 84 my point is how much is it going to cost to get the full set if you are going to get doubles most of the time and the way these people think i e. lego it is going to cost a lot more than £31.84 for a series and most kids will get the same doubles each time so they cant swop with each other . AND YES I AM PROUD TO BUY MY GRANDCHILDREN TOYS PROVIDING I HAVE SPARE CASH AND ALWAYS WILL DO SO BUT I AM NOT GOING TO SIT BACK AND WATCH CHILDREN BEING RIPPED OFF. JUST A PURE CON.

Same with panini stickers though - you dont know what your getting and you can then swap with your mates. Fair enough they are not £1.99 a pack but i guarantee you it costs more the £31.84 to complete the album unless your very lucky.

Its not a CON or a RIP OFF or anything else some of you angry moneysavers seem to shout when you dont get your way. YOU KNEW before you started buying the gifts for your grandchildren that each one was individually wrapped and you cant be sure of what your are getting.

YOU KNEW ALL THIS AND YET STILL YOU GO AHEAD AND BUY THEM ANYWAY AND SAY ITS A RIP OFF.

Keep your money in your purse or buy them sweets instead - you will be a lot calmer then you are now.

Because it amuses me how much annoyance a simple change of font causes certain people.

I'll add you to the list...

It doesnt annoy me at all its just an odd thing to do for no apparent reason unless you want to be 'Noticed'.

Id prefer it if you used wingdings
