Personally I didn't say or suggest it was not a legitimate need. I asked because there are probably easier alternatives to achieve the end result. But your description has just made things even more complicated so I can't help.

Robt, I really do appreciate any suggestions which you or other posters have made; and as I have said, I am no "techie". But when I made the OP, I knew exactly what it was that I required; a second line which sends out a new IP address each time I reboot the router. Alternatives have been explored, but without success.

So, I am still looking for a recommendation as to which provider I should go with for my second line. :)

Have the clients run logmein - https://secure.logmein.com/products/free/ that way you will be using their machine with their genuine IP address.
  • Something to consider if you get a BT connection. If you regularly disconnect the router, BT may think it to be a line fault and reduce your BRAS profile which in turn will lower your sync, then your speed. Ever decreasing circle as you need a stable connection for 2- 3 days before it rises again. If you go for a BT line, go for a LLU operator as they do no operate BRAS and the speed you sync at the exchange will be the download speed (subject to contention).

Why not just go through a proxy or an anonymiser? Even those ISP's that use dynamic ip's do not always change them at every reboot! (this is making the assumption that you are using a browser based application!).

smcaul makes a good point. My ISP is dynamic and doesnt change up EVERY reboot. If i do it daily then it seems to work sometimes.
