I need inspiration!
I have a slow cooker but dont feel i use it to its full potential. I have not made anything from scratch as such (i use all the colmans mixes in it! )
Tomorrow i have some nice fresh organic veggies being delivered (potatoes, carrots, leeks, parsnip, suede, carrots).
What can i make in the s/c using some of these veggies, chicken breasts or stewing steak and a very limited store cupboard? We are a family of 5 (2 adults / 3 children)
Thank you for any ideas
2 great answers here :T I'll add this to the SC Quick questions thread now

Apologies if some has already posted but I am looking for a recommendation to purchase a Slow Cooker recipe book.
I have taken a lot of the recipes off this site which has been invaluable but I have seen a number of used books for sale on Amazon.
Can anyone recommend a good Slow Cooker recipe book that they have??

I'm still new to SC, but I tend to cook whatever I'm doing on high for a couple of hours, then have it on low for as long as needbe (until we're going to eat basically - always have to leave it on warm during dinner, as hubby always wants seconds!)HockeyDuo8083 wrote: »I have taken a lot of the recipes off this site which has been invaluable but I have seen a number of used books for sale on Amazon.

I got a Sarah Lewis slowcooker book for xmas from the MiL, and its very good. it came from The Works for £4.99. clear, simple and good mix of recipies. most recipies say set to Low cook, but my slow cooker, which is pictured in the book, says cook on Medium. the advice section is really clear and the sausages with lentils is one of the yummiest things i've ever created!
however, it doesnt have the bread recipies which "ultimate slow cooker" also by Sarah Lewis does (amazon was £10, now £6). I think i'd go for that one if i were buying now.Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. My slow cooker book is
New Recipes for your Slow Cooker by Annette Yates
As I said in another post, it doesn't look that exciting but it has some nice family recipes in. I have used it quite a lot.0
