ANNIE 56: I have daffodils that are up in my garden so your eyes are fine lol.0
-
Its cold here to, my feet really feel it first, they are like ice cubes and just cant warm them up. The tops of my legs are permanently cold as well, it really aggravates me
I have my strappy thermal top on, a t shirt and a fleecy jumper a pair of jeans and my dressing gown and i'm still cold. Probably doesnt help that i havent moved from the computer since i dropped ds1 off at school, at least my hands are warm because im doing a bit of Christmas shopping
I put vests on both ds1 and 2 yesterday as i could feel it in the air but am going to try and hold fire on the heating for now unless we have a period of freak weather. I bought an oil filled radiator a few weeks ago from screwfix when it was on offer so will use that in the morning to heat the living room so the kids can run down to the heat in the morning :rotfl:
DS1 is on school dinners now so i know he will be nice and warm while hes at school and he can have a bowl of home made soup when he gets home. He is in reception so he is really tired when he gets home so he can snuggle under blankets tonight and put on his fleece pj's.
I threw out my SC the other day, well its got a cauli growing in it because we just couldn't cook anything nice in it, we followed recipes to the letter but the dishes just came out awful. Was such a waste of good food lol.
Got a wind up radio and torch in one from argos with my free £5 so it cost me a grand total of £2.99
Just waiting on my new front door, we have got a gaping crack in the wood at the bottom where the people who lived here before us had a dog and it scratched and scratched, weakened the door and because of the cold weather last winter it gave up on us and now we are left with a hole and gale force winds through the hall lol.0 -

For a mam who likes to cook from scratch as much as possible and feed her family good wholesome food, I cannot fathom why I have just got the must unbelievable feeling..
Been shopping this morning simply for stcok cupboard essentails, flour, dried milk, tin upon tin of fruit and soup and beans. I felt an incredible feeling of satisfaction, of calmness, of feeling like a good organised Mam.
Really weird - someone give me tinned soup instead of homemade i'd have slurped it sullenly normally!
What's going on?Save £1000 in a year... £19.28/£1000Miche0 -
thanks Mommygoose...now I know Im not bonkers...daffodils this early or maybe there an early flowering type??
yep Berniesmaster all the tree round my allotment and bushes are all hanging almost to the ground with the weight of the berries, anyone know if this is normal or due to the kind of weather changes going on...
thank goodness for this forum OS living, Im ready, nearly stocked up and just got the car to sort out now, my friends think Ive lost the plot going on about stocking up on foodstuffs, candles and wind up torches and camping stove, and laugh at my extra lined curtains....have the feeling its me thats going to be smirking to myself when they get caught out...
homemade soup...im going to make some chicken broth and have some tonight with my HM bread and finish off with my freebie apples made into a crumble and have some custard...its lovley to go and just look at my full cupboards ( time to get our more lol )

Hehe yes my kids think it's hysterical with all my food stash and draught excluders etc. Think we'll all be laughing when we're all snug throughout the winter0

annie - it's so good to read how enthusiastic and contented you seem to be in your new life. You sound as if you're a bird that has just been released from its cage and are singing as you have never sung before :T
Don't forget a pair of fingerless gloves for your power cut drawer. I'm going to get myself a pair for when I sit at the comuter too long and my hands turn to ice!0 -
Anyone know roughly how expensive it is to have an electric blanket on for an hour or so before bed each night? Would it be more cost effective to heat the bedroom for an hour before bed instead??Mortgage£148,725 Student loan£13,050 HSBC loan£12,221

WOW Massive thread! Read 3 pages & decided to add my tiny bit.
I use fleecy blankets to sleep on. Place them on top of the fitted seet & tuck them in. Plus the duvet & a soft fleece throw - I'm toasty! Did the kids beds last yr & they loved it. Each had Hello Kitty & DS had Iggle Piggle.
DH & I had Fimbles & My Little Pony0 -
apparently electric blankets don't take that much electric so would be a cheaper option0
