Oh what a relief Red Doe - if I could work out how to copy the email response I got from Scottish Fuels I would - but I think those 'new rules' are bloomin' well very new -its disgusting wat they were doing - forcing people into even more fuel poverty - anyway RESULT. I was on the verge of doing a trex up there with hot soup and a duvet!!

I've got the hot water bottles and a bottle of gin! Lets have a "field trip" to Red Doe's.

Red Doe-- so glad you'll be able to have heat this winter. I was so worried for you dear!
  • Red Doe - just wanted to say congrats and well done on the news - very happy for you

last year I put bubble wrap on my little toilet windows. It worked brilliantly and want to do something similar on the bay window in my bedroom. the only snag is it's on the main road and obviously would be an eye saw and make me the centre of small minded gossip.

Is there anything on the market that does the same thing but doesn't look like bubble wrap on the windows?

Curtains I hear you yell. I would love too but landlord will not allow us to drill to put up a pole.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Its just a thought but you can get light weight curtain poles that are self supporting , they are basically sprung at one end. they would hold a voile or net , but maybe if you hemmed the top of a fleece if it was a light weigh you may get away with that ?

here is an example from ebay to help

  • Slightly off topic but worth mentioning.

Helenium has been well and truly evicted - for now. They may be back under a different disguise so you might want to keep an eagle eye out.

I hope Mennie gets to read this, because it was a joint effort by all of us through reporting the offending posts that they have been both removed from being a member and their posts deleted as well.

I would like to say "Keep Calm and Carry On" but unfortunately that is now a trademarked piece and it cannot be reproduced! Daft isn't it! But the meaning to all of you is the same, if you spot a troll, ignore them and report them.

Have a good weekend all X

Well done Red Doe! I was watching Phil & Kirstie looking at lovely crofts and cottages in North East Scotland yesterday and commenting to my OH 'just wait 'til they're up to their waists in snow and can't afford to heat it!' and telling him about your situation. (Yep, I was in default grumpy mode 'cos I'd had to close all of the windows to warm the place up!) Great news and yes, I know that it's a beautiful part of the world... we were actually dreaming about our next trip up there!)
Handwarmers 99p at the tills at Dunelm yesterday if that's any help to anyone?
The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Yes very true. I now realise that I have been a victim of Heleniums venom on another thread. I think they are a seriously sick person who should seek medical help for their issues.
