    Hi All
Did ok yesterday 3 1sts and 3 2nds plus the veggie Lentil and pea puree savoury flan won first plus a 'Perfect' written on the card!! Yay go veggies!!!
Now heres a thing - I got my large bubble wrap for windows - it has lots of the bubble erm 'deflated' in groups almost as if it was a manufacturing fault. I have put up some and the view is totally obscured as the rest of the bubbles dont seem to have much air in them! It was very cheap on the market but is this normal - is it very hit and miss as to bubbles being burst? On youtube vids they seem to be able to see out better than I can at the mo!............. What does everyone think?

Hi licky - no recipe I just made it up - I use red lentils boiled with half a stock cube (VEG KALLO) and a couple of squirts of tomato puree. Then I just boil up frozen peas and puree them in te blender (bit messy).
For the base I use a hot water crust recipe and I blind bake first for 13 mins with baking beans on greaseproof then 8 more mins without beans (about 180 degrees)
put puree layer in first grate a little parmesan then do lentil layer and top with generous amount of cheddar and parmesan and bake until said topping is nicely golden! Hope you cn follow this my kids love it!!!

  • Afternoon all

Our preps are coming along nicely. Finally done my back door curtain and an chuffed to bits with the results. Thank you for all the tips and support.

I must say today of all days when watching the memorial coverage of 9/11 all this preparations we have been making has made me realize how lucky we are in so many respects.

We are lucky we are preparing for a tough winter and not a war like so many that have gone before us.
Goal - We want to be mortgages free :j

Thanks Helen - disappointed by the lack of prizes for preserves but never mind we like them!
Friend hs brought round a jar of her (non winning) cherry plum jam because she knows I like the tartness of it so thats another for the store cupboard!
Am making courgette soup this afternoon some for now and some to freeze - all good stuff for long term survival!
Have got refund from Amazon for the useless Trevor Bayliss wind-up so olbv;plkjx[poiuytreI must get the butane gas stove next pay day as that will make me feel far more secure should (what am I saying - WHEN) the power goes off

draught excluder: rolled up floppy picnic rug and tied with string at each end. It worked great too. We moved since and am keeping my lovely thick tapestry door curtain in case dd in a new house, decides if she wants it when the weather gets cold. If not then it will be passed on via a charity shop

Electricity went off for a short time this morning and very blustery now as winds are always strong here from the bristol channel with no obstructions. Aah just heard a mighty bang. Dh gone to investigate, was chair on verandah. Just double checking everything now as this is going to get very bad

edit added: I just remembered being at work in s wales years ago and the windows were bowing in the wind, someones windows actuallu blew in. Ours at home were scary so I shut the curtains on the windy side as that would have contained any brokem glass
  • noted somewhere somone mentioned a heated airer. I wonder if this may be an idea. as i get fed up with things drying everwhere, even put tumble dryer on the other day (first time in ages as try not to use it) but i didnt have space for all my washing and i could abide it hanging about for ages. we have wedding money and i wonder if it worth doing. any suggestions..no idea what they are or where you get them or how much and how much to run!!

    sorry for another question!
