I've been looking for some snowjogger boots in time for winter - anybody found them less than £45? For anybody that has them - did you have to buy your usual size or do you need to go up a size?
  • Confuzzled thanks for the info on the openers:D

Dusty :)hard to tell if its warmer yet - it is bigger so I expect my bills to be higher - tryig to think of all the things that would help in the meantime! Dont get home until Monday - treatment finished this afternoon so feel a bit bleurgh at the moment so heading to bed soon.

What items should I have in my car? Last year a few people were snowed in at my work and I was thinking the following would be useful to have ready either to get my car out or to make sure I am prepared to walk home . If you can think of other things or good suppliers please let me know:

    • First aid kit - already in the car
    • Folding snow shovel
    • Spare hat, scarf and gloves
    • Waterproof trousers
    • Water
    • Drink
    • Snack bar
    • Change for bus
    • Scraper
    • Blanket - foil/woolen or both?
I always have with me a fully charged mobile phone and in the winter I wear snow boots (proper not fashionable :rotfl:) and a waterproof ski jacket.
Once it's actually icy/snowy, I also have some cardboard (flattened out boxes) and a bag of (cold) ash from the fire (if you don't have open fires, then cat litter will do0. Sometimes while you're parked, ice builds up under your wheels, and either putting down some cardboard (not precious, so you don't have to stop and retrieve it, it will bio-degrade) or some ash will give you enough grip to get going or get out of your parking space onto the roadway.
  • Not had a chance to catch up on posts but just a "quickie" to say that L*dl are also having an Outdoor week from Monday (as well as the laundry one!).

Most stuff looks OK but not what I'd call particularly cheap, however, they do have hiking boots for £12.99 if anyone needs a pair.

Looks like I'll def be going now - I wasn't sure if it was worth the trip just for an airer but I could really do with a new pair of hiking boots as I literally live in these (black pair for work, blue pair for outside work and brown pair to walk the dog)... 2 pairs have holes so getting desperate!

Really hoping that once I've had my op & it's healed, I'll be able to wear "proper" shoes again!:)

I managed to get some of the Artic Joggers at the end of April when Amazon had them for under £30. Took a chance and got my normal size. Amazon and Javari do currently have limited style and limited sizes for under £30. HTH

Yep!!! She did! I use loo roll for cleaning the loo seat with MrT brand Dett0x spray but not for general cleaning!

She was obsessive about cleaning - wish I was a little bit more like that :D

Sorry, not going to read all 350+ pages to see if this has been suggested already, BUT if you feel the cold in bed, try taking a 'cuddle pillow' to bed with you ...

many years ago an 84 yo old lady told me to put a spare pillow in the bed to keep my back warm; it really works
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

It's especially helpful as I can't snuggle up to DH the way I used to because I can't lie on that side any more. He can snuggle up to me, but as he's a very hot body he tends not to ...

    Well, what can I say??:o:):rotfl:
