Ha - I have living room curtains *does a little dance*

They are not my first choice, those were the ones that i really wanted after looking forever at samples and deciding that for the first time in my life i was going to buy something nice for the house that i really wanted, after measuring up and finding out that for two sets of curtains it would set me back the best part of £800 i picked myself up off the floor and came back to earth with a bump :rotfl:

I have a bay window and a straight window and have picked up two pairs of curtains today in the sale for £50 :j bargain!! they are quite thin but that doesn`t matter at all as i have some fleece ready to hook on the back for linings :j

As an added bonus the bay pair are 90x90 and i have to cut them to windowsill level so with the cut offs i can make matching cushion covers :D

My sewing isn`t great but i`m sure that i can knock up something that will look ok.

Curtains are always best altered from the top, so take the heading tape off, measure, measure again, then measure again just to be sure (allowing for a turn over at the top) and then cut the chunk off, reattach the header and you should still have your nice neat bottom hem. (sorry if I'm telling you something you already know)

    Thanks for that pooky :A

I had read it somewhere possibly last year and had forgotten all about it :D My head really is like one big sieve these days :o

I`ll have a look at the pair that need altering later, think that i shall put the pair up that are the right size now as i`m dying to see what they look like.

...try sainsburys bubble bath, around 19p for 2 litres (or is it 1?) can't remember but its a big bottle and I use it for filling up the soap dispensers.

Tinned stuff etc is always a good thing to stock up on as it keeps for so long, i keep quite a decent stock all year round and then add to it as the offers appear. I`ve got the tins down to a fine art now as i never usually need to buy any unless there`s an offer on :D

My tin cupboard is reasonably organised too so that i can see whats in there, i have a row of beans and a row of tomatoes. When i stock up i can stack on top of these and have another row on top. Then theres a row of mixed beans which i add to chilli or to make quick wraps etc. The tinned fish is down one side and i have a few tins of emergency stewing steak for when i find that i want to make something like a curry in a hurry. I got some of the curry sauce in jars when i had coupons and throw a tin of meat, a jar of sauce, some rice and onions and some extra water into the remoska and just leave it to do its thing. Makes a quick and tasty biryani and only one pot to clean :D

I`ve done really well on the pet food too. I`m lucky enough to have a spare room upstairs that is never used and it houses a small chest freezer in the corner. I use this room to store extras for winter.

Yesterday i bought 2 x 15k sacks of dog food and i`ve ordered another 96 pouches of cat food too so they can live in there until needed. If winter happened tomorrow we wouldn`t struggle as i`m ahead with this.

I`ve just bottled 12 bottles of wine so i need to find somewhere to hide some of these as DH will go through them like water if i don`t.

The first pair of curtains are up and look far better than i ever could have imagined :j They don`t have the linings in yet but will sort that later as they are all ready from last year.

I`m enjoying getting everything prepared :o
