Exactly the same here - and however hard you try, it gets your mood down. Every single day in may it has been blowing a gale or raining. You sit all winter and plan the garden and then this. Puts you off and just give up . :(

I know what you mean, I have decided to give up on any thought of any kind of summer, it saves the dissapointment.

I have concluded that our climate has changed and not for the better and the sooner I get used to it the easier it will be for me.

I went to majorca not long ago for a week of sun, flippin' eck the weather there was worse than here!!

I'm going to sort out all my camping gear into a 'light camp' camp kit so we can go at an hours notice should the weather ever buck up and take advantage of whatever feeble sun we might, just maybe occasionally, hopefully get.

I have had the fire on today it has been so chilly. I need to get the wood sorted for winter and the coal but otherwise I will carry on as before. Oh yes, the OH has been clearing his loft and found an old double electric blanket. Now he is warm all the time but I am not and he let me have it so I am very chuffed.
Now that's love for you, the real stuff not all the hearts and flowers tosh.

am I the only one who still has flannel sheets on the bed? I can`t bear the idea of putting the cool cotton ones back on and I still don`t have the inclination to get my summer clothes out of storage boxes. It is june in 3 days for goodness sake!

I gave up all that summer stuff/winter stuff years ago, I seemed to have mountains of summer stuff I wore for three days a year.( wishful thinking when buying it I think!)

I just keep a few summery things in the wardrobe. I have a store of classic stuff for holidays abroad. Linen trousers, tshirts and cardi's.
A few evening tops and that's about it.

I took mine off for a couple of weeks and now they're back on. And summer clothes are a waste of time in this country! - We are blowing away here, those poor wee hens !!

I still have my flannel sheets on the bed and a comforter on the end. Considered a hot water bottle last night! We have been stuck in the house all day with DGS when we should have been in the park cos it was pouring down. very fed up with it.

but this afternoon popped into sainsbys runout of milk no matter must have a cup of tea;) walked past clothing isle would normally been good as have enough clothes BUT there were 3 fleece dressing gowns with a fleece hood aswell normally very expensive reduced from 18 pound to 9 pounds selling of cheap and as we live in a single paned home that gets drafty in the winter i snapped this up to keep me warm not very often well ive never seen them this cheap with a fleece hood aswell when i got home tried it on and it was so lovely and cosy and warm felt like a big cuddly bear. best time to get cosy stuff for winter in the summer before they raise the prices and charge the earth:o

Bootie slippers are a good thing to look out for now as well, had some on the market for £3, but I had too much to carry as it was so had to leave it, am hoping they still have some left when I go again in a forthnight.

Can't help thinking we will have a really bad winter again with the iceland volcano.

I can manage the cold, just about, but all the snow and ice is a lot more difficult. I am getting on a bit now and I really fear a fall.
Found that dishwasher salt works quite well to keep paths clear, thankfully.
  • well, after the last two years, i'm prepping now too.

*i've washed and put away my biggest jumpers (kept out a few for layering tho!!)
*bought spare slippers in the sales.
*washed and put away fleecy blankets (we have rather a lot)
*tried to get some extra wood/coal laid in but still arranging the storage space for this atm
*got hubby some extra thick socks in the sales
*put away in an easy to find place, the hot water bottles

*and made another list of things i need to restock, ie more thermals, socks, tights, gloves (for hubby again!)

i'm sure there is something i've forgotten but i'll be back ;)

  • I was in Primark the other day and I bought the bottee slippers which were reduced to 2 quid and also the thick fleecy socks which were 1 quid for 2 pair which was good. Every year my prep gets better thanks to all of you on this thread!!
