I was eyeing up the hot water bottles in Wilkos today! I'm going to stock up over the next few months as we really could have done with them last winter. In fact we really could do with them now! Sometimes I feel I must be a bit over-dressed when I go out because I see people in t-shirts, and I have my scarf and winter coat on. They are obviously more hardy souls than I am. We could do with the heating on, but damn it, it's nearly June and I REFUSE!

Exactly the same here - and however hard you try, it gets your mood down. Every single day in may it has been blowing a gale or raining. You sit all winter and plan the garden and then this. Puts you off and just give up . :(

i got a slanket for christmas last year, the one with the pocket for your feet and this definitely helped me to keep warm and turn the heating off sooner.

My hubby has lined the cover for the loft entrance, with layers of thick bubble wrap and loft insulation.
Hopefully, that will stop the draught from coming down the stairs when it is cold and windy.
I got some more fleece material to make loose curtain linings for the bedroom windows before the cold comes again.
Also got a few flannel nightshirts and some furry boot slippers and dressing gown with a hood to keep nice and snug at night.
    ;)

;) Felines are my favourite ;)

    Hello,

I cant believe i am seriously thinking about winter when its almost june!
Im actually a freak who loves winter...:o...i dont love being snowed in and all that hassle,i just love the coming home, getting into pjs and snuggling under a blanket with hot chocolate!
But some drastic measures have to be taken with the ever rising fuel costs.
Im sure i've mentioned about my downstairs bathroom on here but:
I rent my house. The pipes in the bathroom freeze-they are not covered :mad: and are under the tiles so not easy to get to,I need to have the central heating on constantly to:
    A) Stop them freezing and bursting,
    B) So that i can use the bathroom otherwise theres no water obviously,

The landlord refuses to do anything as it'll be too expensive and its not causing a problem to the house ...i am stupidly tempted to leave the heating off next time and just let the bl00dy pipes burst!! Soon be his problem!!
Anyway,my gas bills are huge as a result. I've tried having the thermost stat down low but it needs to be at a certain level to do any good! Looking at moving before this winter!
The wall is an outside one and backs onto the shed type thingy i have. Is there anyway to cover this wall with something/anything that could help?? I know its a long shot but in case i dont manage to move i need a back up plan!!
    Emergency Savings #73 = £1,500/£2,000
    Savings Pot £1,440.00
    Xmas 2018=£100/£300 Australia =£0.00/6000

I just put a wash on the line - to go and pick it up off the lawn within minutes the wind has picked up that much again

And now the rain - again

So the heating is on again - had just a week without it so far this year. Its not on for long in a day but after the cost of the last fill of oil I dont want it on at all full stop

Even the coalman said he was still delivering full time when he should have been down to two days a week

Im so looking forward to my new house being built - sooper dooper insulation and glazing and best of all on the mains gas

But then Ill be moaning that I miss the stove:rotfl:

They shouldn't freeze as they are covered with the flooring, and your bathroom would need need to be at freezing point for that to happen.
    Do they go outside?

Managed to get a hot water bottle a couple of months ago from 99p stores, it was small but it also had a fleecy cover on it. I've tried it out and it's pretty good, stays warm for hours. there might be some lurking around the back of some shelves if your lucky. :)

I noticed some in B&M yesterday along with the microwave lavender bags if that is any help to anyone.
